Key Responsibilities
Substation Civil Works Supervision
- Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising civil works for substation projects — foundations, control buildings, equipment plinths, cable trenches, and drainage works
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards throughout all construction phases
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on all substation civil works
- Provide practical support in resolving site-related technical and construction challenges as they arise during project execution
Contractor Submissions Review & QA/QC
- Review contractor submissions including method statements, shop drawings, material approval requests, and work procedures for technical adequacy
- Assist in implementing QA/QC procedures and ensure all construction works meet the required quality and compliance standards
- Maintain accurate site records, daily activity logs, and inspection reports to the required project documentation standards
- Track project progress and report delays, technical risks, or quality concerns to the Resident Engineer in a timely and structured manner
Multidisciplinary Coordination & Stakeholder Communication
- Support coordination between civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines to ensure smooth, conflict-free project execution across the substation works
- Participate in site meetings and support communication between project stakeholders including the client, design office, and contractors
- Coordinate with the design office on technical queries, RFIs, drawing clarifications, and site-condition design modifications
- Support the Resident Engineer in managing interface issues and ensuring aligned project delivery across all disciplines
HSE Compliance & Site Safety
- Ensure all substation civil construction activities are conducted in full compliance with project HSE requirements and applicable UAE safety regulations
- Conduct regular HSE site inspections — identifying hazards proactively and following up on corrective actions to closure
- Promote a strong safety culture on site and ensure contractors and subcontractors maintain required HSE standards throughout
- Contribute to incident-free project delivery by applying good understanding of construction HSE practices and substation site safety requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (REQUIRED)
Experience Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in civil construction — preferably in substation, power, or major infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with substation civil works including foundations, control buildings, equipment plinths, and cable trench systems
- Good understanding of construction methodologies, QA/QC processes, and HSE practices in a power or infrastructure environment
- Knowledge of relevant international standards and GCC/UAE regulations is an advantage
Essential Technical Skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents accurately
- Strong communication and coordination skills in a multidisciplinary project environment
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of project management tools is an advantage
- Strong organisational skills and a structured, problem-solving approach to site challenges
- Willingness to work on-site in Abu Dhabi and travel as required by the project
