Position Overview

The Clothing Technologist / Garment Technologist at this Dubai Lifestyle Brand is a senior technical product role with end-to-end ownership of the technical development process across jersey and knitwear categories. You will manage product development and technical execution — creating and maintaining accurate Tech Packs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), grading documentation, and technical specifications — while managing sample development, critical paths, and fit sessions to ensure products launch on time, on quality, and fully compliant with the brand’s standards.

This is a role that requires a technically authoritative garment professional who is equally comfortable evaluating samples and writing detailed technical comments, leading fit sessions with clarity and precision, resolving factory and production issues under time pressure, and working collaboratively across internal teams — Design, Merchandising, Quality, Production, and Planning — to drive continuous improvement in product quality and technical execution. If you are an experienced clothing technologist with deep jersey and knitwear knowledge looking for a high-ownership technical role in Dubai’s growing lifestyle brand sector, this opportunity through Create Recruitment is the one to pursue in 2026.

Why This Clothing Technologist Role in Dubai Is a Career-Defining Opportunity: Garment Technologist roles at growing lifestyle brands are qualitatively different from equivalent roles at large retailers or established heritage brands — because in a growing brand, your technical decisions directly shape the product DNA, the quality standards, and the manufacturing relationships that define what the brand stands for in the market. When you lead a fit session, write a tech pack, or resolve a factory construction issue at a growing Dubai lifestyle brand, you are not maintaining an existing standard — you are helping to build one. That professional influence, at a brand that is actively growing in one of the world’s most dynamic fashion retail markets, is genuinely rare.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Development & Tech Pack Management

  • Manage product development and technical execution from concept through to bulk production — owning the full technical lifecycle of each product across jersey and knitwear categories, ensuring that every garment reaches bulk production meeting the brand’s defined standards of fit, construction, quality, functionality, manufacturability, and compliance
  • Create and maintain accurate Tech Packs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), grading documentation, and technical specifications — producing the complete technical package that communicates construction intent, fit specification, material requirements, and production standards clearly to overseas factories in a form that eliminates ambiguity and minimises sampling iterations
  • Manage critical paths and sample development timelines — tracking each product’s technical development milestones against the overall critical path, anticipating delays, escalating risks early, and coordinating across internal teams and factories to ensure products launch on time without compromising technical standards
  • Support fabric and trim development — collaborating with Design and Product Development on material selection, fabric performance requirements, trim specifications, and testing requirements, ensuring all materials used in production meet the brand’s quality, functionality, and compliance standards

Fit Sessions, Sample Evaluation & Factory Communication

  • Lead fit sessions — conducting structured garment fitting assessments on fit models with the technical authority, garment construction knowledge, and fit judgement to identify and clearly articulate all fit, balance, proportion, and construction corrections required before the next sample stage
  • Evaluate samples and provide clear, precise, and actionable technical comments to factories — communicating fit corrections, construction amendments, quality observations, and specification discrepancies in a manner that factories can implement accurately without further clarification, reducing unnecessary sampling rounds and development time
  • Work closely with suppliers and overseas manufacturers throughout the product development and bulk production lifecycle — building effective working relationships with factory technical teams, resolving construction and production issues collaboratively, and maintaining the communication standards that deliver consistent quality at bulk
  • Identify and resolve technical and production issues that arise during development and bulk production — applying garment construction knowledge, manufacturing understanding, and problem-solving focus to find practical, implementable solutions that maintain quality standards without causing unacceptable delays or cost impacts

Quality Control, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Support product testing, quality control, and compliance activities — coordinating testing requirements for performance, safety, and labelling compliance, reviewing test results, and working with factories to address any non-conformances identified through testing or QC inspection
  • Drive continuous improvement in product quality and technical standards — proactively identifying recurring construction, quality, or fit issues across the product range and developing systematic improvements to tech pack standards, factory briefs, and development processes that reduce defect rates and improve first-sample accuracy
  • Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production, Planning, Quality, and Merchandising teams — contributing technical input to design feasibility reviews, range planning discussions, supplier selection decisions, and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring technical considerations are integrated into all product decisions from the earliest design stages

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Strong technical experience across jersey and knitted products within either menswear or womenswear — the core technical specialism this role is built around; candidates without jersey and knitwear technical experience are not suitable regardless of broader fashion industry background
  • Minimum 5+ years of technical experience within a leading retailer or supplier — with a comprehensive, hands-on working understanding of garment construction, pattern making, grading, fit, and manufacturing within a commercial product development environment
  • Proven experience creating technical packs — producing complete, accurate, and factory-ready tech packs that communicate all construction, fit, material, and quality requirements clearly without requiring significant supplementary clarification from the factory
  • Proven experience conducting fit sessions — with the technical authority and garment knowledge to lead fit assessments, identify issues with precision, and communicate corrections clearly, decisively, and in a way that factories can act on without further interpretation
  • Proven experience working with overseas manufacturers throughout the product development and bulk production lifecycle — with the communication skills, cultural awareness, and technical credibility to build effective working relationships with factory technical teams across different countries and production environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Kidswear technical experience is highly desirable — demonstrating a breadth of garment category knowledge that adds value to a growing lifestyle brand expanding its product range
  • Experience with PLM systems — demonstrating familiarity with digital product lifecycle management platforms used by leading retailers and brands to manage tech packs, BOMs, and development workflows
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator — the ability to produce or amend technical flat drawings in Illustrator adds value to the tech pack creation and design communication process
  • Experience in a fast-growing lifestyle brand environment — understanding the pace, flexibility, and broad scope of contribution that a growing brand requires from its technical team, compared with the more specialised roles that large established retailers typically offer

Why Clothing Technologist Roles in Dubai Are Exceptional in 2026

Dubai’s fashion and lifestyle retail sector has undergone significant transformation in recent years — moving from a market dominated by international brand franchises and wholesale retail toward a growing ecosystem of independent, Dubai-born lifestyle brands building their own product, own supply chains, and own technical standards. This creates a genuinely exciting opportunity for experienced garment technologists who want to be part of building something, rather than simply maintaining an existing technical framework within a large established retailer.

For a clothing technologist with strong jersey and knitwear technical expertise, proven fit session leadership, tech pack creation capability, and overseas manufacturer management experience, a senior technical role at a growing Dubai lifestyle brand offers something that very few fashion markets provide simultaneously — the professional influence of a technical lead in a growing business, the personal and financial advantages of Dubai as a base, and the market dynamism of one of the world’s most active fashion retail environments.
