A leading operator in Sharjah is hiring a Senior Fluids Engineer to lead drilling fluids, solids control and waste management across exploration, appraisal and development wells. This role owns the fluids Basis of Design and Drilling Fluids Program, manages contractors, drives cost and performance improvement, and ensures HSE compliance across the full well lifecycle.
About the Role Scope
Technical Leadership: Own fluids sections of Basis of Design (BoD), Drilling Fluids Programs (DFP) and Recommended Practices (RP)
Specialized Design: Fluid systems for Hâ‚‚S management, fractured carbonate losses, shale/inhibitive systems and managed-pressure drilling
Contractor Oversight: Tenders, technical audits, Quarterly Performance Reviews and rig-site fluids engineer support
Cross-Functional Work: Close collaboration with Drilling, Completions and Well Testing engineers

Position Overview
As Senior Fluids Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and operational oversight for all drilling fluids, solids control and waste management activities. You’ll design fluid systems for complex formation challenges, lead rig-side risk assessments, manage fluids contractors, and ensure every well is executed safely, on budget and in line with Company HSE policy.
Why This Role Matters: Drilling fluids decisions directly affect well safety, cost and performance. As Senior Fluids Engineer, you set the technical standard for every well program, mentor Company and Contractor engineers, and help the organization reduce cost while improving drilling conditions.
 Key Responsibilities
HSE Accountability
- Support implementation of Company HSE policies, standards and initiatives
- Review Contractor HSE systems through office reviews and rig-site visits
- Lead rig-side risk assessments for fluids, solids control and waste management
Fluids Program Design & Well Planning
- Prepare and own the fluids sections of BoD, DFP and Recommended Practices
- Design fluid systems for Hâ‚‚S management, losses, shale/inhibitive systems and underbalanced drilling
- Participate in DWOP and CWOP sessions and write Management of Change (MOC) documents
Contractor Management & Operational Oversight
- Compile tenders and evaluate Contractors for fluids, solids control and waste management services
- Direct, coach and support Company and Contractor rig-site fluids engineers
- Lead technical audits and moderate Contractor Quarterly Performance Reviews
- Deliver the fluids section of the End of Well Report and capture Lessons Learned
Cost Control & Commercial Support
- Drive continuous improvement to reduce cost and improve drilling conditions
- Support cost estimates, Bills of Quantities and commercial evaluations
- Identify material optimization, inventory management and waste reduction opportunities
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geology or related field
- Experience: 12-15+ years of progressive fluids-related experience
- Seniority: At least 5 years at senior/coordinating or managerial level
- Preferred Background: Service-company technical or laboratory department experience
- Advantageous: Sour-gas/high-Hâ‚‚S carbonate experience, especially in the Middle East or Kurdistan Region of Iraq
