This Laboratory Technologist role at the Molecular Biology & Genomics Centre (MBG) in Dubai is a scientifically focused, compliance-driven, and operationally important position for a UAE National with a strong laboratory and molecular biology background. The successful candidate will perform routine and specialist laboratory testing, process clinical and biological samples in strict accordance with SOPs and biosafety requirements, operate and maintain advanced laboratory equipment, and maintain comprehensive quality control and test documentation records. The role also involves supporting the validation, verification, and implementation of new laboratory methods, monitoring reagents and consumables inventory, and actively contributing to daily laboratory operations and assigned scientific projects. Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Molecular Procedures
- Perform routine laboratory testing, sample processing, and specialist molecular biology procedures within defined competencies
- Handle and maintain clinical and biological samples carefully and in strict accordance with SOPs and biosafety requirements
- Conduct PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, and other molecular biology techniques as required by laboratory protocols
- Apply knowledge of diagnostic procedures to ensure all testing activities are performed accurately and reproducibly
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate advanced laboratory equipment proficiently and safely in accordance with manufacturer specifications and lab SOPs
- Perform routine maintenance of all laboratory instruments — ensuring optimal performance, accuracy, and operational readiness
- Report any technical issues, equipment malfunctions, or non-conformities to the laboratory supervisor promptly and accurately
- Ensure all equipment is correctly maintained, calibrated, and documented in accordance with quality and accreditation requirements
Quality Control, Documentation & Biosafety
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and well-organised test records, laboratory documentation, and quality-control logs
- Follow all laboratory quality, biosafety, and accreditation requirements — including ISO-accredited laboratory system standards
- Support the validation, verification, and successful implementation of new laboratory methods and testing procedures
- Monitor laboratory reagents, consumables, and inventory levels — flagging replenishment needs to the laboratory supervisor
Daily Operations & Project Support
- Support daily laboratory operations effectively and contribute actively to all assigned scientific and diagnostic projects
- Work collaboratively as a reliable and skilled member of the MBG multidisciplinary laboratory team
- Communicate clearly and professionally with laboratory supervisors and team members on all technical and operational matters
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment in full compliance with biosafety and quality standards
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related field
- Valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license or confirmed DHA eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technologist or Technician is required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience in a clinical, molecular, diagnostic, or research laboratory environment
- Hands-on knowledge of laboratory techniques, sample handling, molecular biology procedures, and diagnostic testing processes
- Experience with PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, and molecular biology techniques is a strong and valued advantage
- Experience working in ISO-accredited laboratories or with laboratory quality systems is highly preferred
