Your Responsibilities as Pediatric Nurse
In this role, you become a trusted caregiver for some of the most vulnerable patients — newborns, children, and teenagers — while working alongside a multidisciplinary team of dedicated professionals. Every day brings meaningful work that directly impacts young lives and their families.
Patient Care & Clinical Monitoring
- You deliver professional, age-appropriate, and compassionate care and continuous monitoring for newborns, children, and adolescents across all pediatric ward conditions.
- You assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in pediatrics, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate execution of all clinical protocols.
- You provide loving, attentive bedside care to young patients, creating a calm and reassuring environment that helps children and teenagers feel safe during their hospital stay.
- You offer clear, empathetic guidance and emotional support to parents and family members, keeping them informed and involved throughout the treatment process.
Documentation & Administrative Tasks
- You maintain thorough, accurate, and complete nursing documentation for all assigned patients, meeting clinical, legal, and quality standards in daily ward operations.
- You handle necessary administrative duties within the pediatric ward’s daily workflow, supporting efficient operations and clear communication across the care team.
Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration
- You work in close, trusting collaboration within the interdisciplinary team of physicians, nursing staff, and therapists — contributing your pediatric expertise to joint care planning and ward rounds.
- You participate actively in handover meetings, clinical discussions, and departmental quality improvement initiatives to continuously raise the standard of pediatric care.
- You support the onboarding and mentoring of new colleagues and trainees, sharing your knowledge and helping build a positive, learning-oriented ward culture.
Your Profile — What You Bring
Qualifications & Certifications
- Completed training as a Registered Nurse specializing in Pediatrics, or as a Health and Pediatric Nurse (Gesundheits- und Kinderkrankenpfleger/-in), or as a nursing specialist with a confirmed focus in pediatric care.
- Valid proof of measles immunity — legally required for all healthcare workers in Germany per the Masernschutzgesetz (mandatory measles vaccination law).
- A clean, extended certificate of good conduct (erweitertes Führungszeugnis) for submission to the HR department prior to starting.
Skills & Personal Strengths
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple patients and tasks efficiently during busy shifts in a dynamic pediatric environment.
- Genuine commitment and a constructive, positive attitude toward multi-professional teamwork — you bring energy and reliability to everything you do.
- Empathy and child-friendly communication — the ability to adapt your approach for patients from newborns to teenagers and their worried parents.
- Resilience and emotional strength to work effectively in pediatric care settings that can be medically complex and emotionally demanding.
Why This Role Stands Out
Pediatric nursing in Germany 2026 is in high demand — and the best positions go fast. What makes the Klinikverbund Herford-Bünde special isn’t just its scale (28 clinics, 3,000 staff, 100,000+ outpatients per year) but its genuine investment in the people who work there. From employer-funded emergency childcare up to age 12 to affordable staff accommodation for your first six months and a discounted Germany-wide transport ticket, this employer has designed a package that actually works for real life. The link with Ruhr University Bochum ensures that continuing professional development here is serious, structured, and recognized — not just a line in a job ad.
And then there’s the work itself. Pediatric and adolescent medicine is one of the most technically demanding and emotionally rewarding specialisms in nursing. You’ll work with patients from day one of life through to young adulthood, coordinate with physicians, therapists, and families, and build genuine long-term relationships with the families you support. In the Herford district’s largest employer, your career has real room to grow — through internal training programs, increasing clinical responsibility, or mentoring the next generation of nurses in a hospital that trains 170+ students every year.
