The successful candidate will develop fragrance concepts for diverse product applications, research fragrance trends and consumer preferences, collaborate with perfumers and fragrance houses, evaluate fragrance characteristics across top, middle, and base notes, conduct structured sensory evaluation sessions, manage sensory panel recruitment and training, assess fragrance stability and compatibility across product bases, investigate fragrance issues such as off-notes and batch variation, and prepare comprehensive technical reports with actionable insights. Why This Role Matters: As a Sensory Evaluation Analyst in Abu Dhabi, you sit at the creative and scientific intersection of fragrance art and consumer science — transforming abstract scent concepts into commercially successful products that resonate emotionally with consumers across the UAE and beyond. Your olfactory precision, sensory panel leadership, and fragrance development expertise directly determine the quality and market success of every perfume, skincare product, and home fragrance that your organisation brings to market.

Key Responsibilities

Fragrance Development & Concept Creation

  • Develop fragrance concepts and distinctive scent profiles for perfumes, skincare, body care, hair care, household, and air care products
  • Research fragrance trends, consumer preferences, emerging scent categories, and market opportunities across UAE and global markets
  • Collaborate with perfumers and fragrance houses to develop, refine, and evaluate fragrance compositions against defined briefs
  • Assess fragrance materials, essential oils, aroma chemicals, and fragrance accords for suitability, quality, and regulatory compliance

Sensory Evaluation & Panel Management

  • Conduct structured sensory evaluations to assess fragrance quality, consistency, acceptability, and suitability for intended product applications
  • Design and coordinate fragrance assessment sessions using appropriate sensory evaluation protocols and standardised scoring systems
  • Recruit, brief, train, and coordinate sensory panel participants — ensuring accurate, consistent, and bias-minimised fragrance evaluations
  • Analyse sensory panel feedback, identify patterns in fragrance preference and perception, and prepare clear analytical reports

Fragrance Stability, Performance & Compatibility

  • Evaluate fragrance performance across diverse product bases — creams, lotions, shampoos, shower gels, detergents, and air care products
  • Assess fragrance stability and scent characteristic changes under relevant storage, temperature, light, and packaging conditions
  • Investigate fragrance-related quality issues — off-notes, discolouration, scent fading, ingredient interactions, and batch variation
  • Support fragrance dosage optimisation to achieve the desired sensory profile while meeting product specifications and cost targets

Regulatory Compliance, Documentation & Reporting

  • Review fragrance documentation, technical specifications, safety information, and supplier declarations for regulatory compliance
  • Support assessment of fragrance ingredients against IFRA Standards, applicable usage restrictions, and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of fragrance formulas, sample identification, sensory results, evaluation conditions, and project decisions
  • Prepare technical reports summarising sensory findings, fragrance comparisons, consumer insights, and development recommendations

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fragrance Science, Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Sensory Science, Food Science, Psychology, or Chemical Engineering
  • Familiarity with IFRA Standards, GLP requirements, and cosmetic or consumer product regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Experience conducting sensory assessments using structured protocols, standardised evaluation criteria, and sensory panel management
  • Knowledge of fragrance families — floral, citrus, woody, oriental/amber, aromatic, aquatic, and gourmand — and fragrance structures
  • Experience with fragrance houses, cosmetic manufacturers, consumer goods companies, or sensory research laboratories is an advantage

Essential Skills

  • Strong olfactory observation skills — able to distinguish and precisely describe subtle differences in scent character and intensity
  • Knowledge of essential oils, aroma chemicals, fragrance accords, fragrance stability, and product compatibility factors
  • Ability to apply basic statistical analysis to sensory data and prepare meaningful, commercially relevant analytical reports
  • Excellent analytical thinking, technical documentation, and communication skills across perfumers, scientists, and commercial teams
