Before a defence system goes into the field, someone has to shake it, stress it and watch for the first sign of weakness. EDGE, the UAE advanced technology and defence group, is hiring an ESS Operator to run environmental stress screening and vibration tests on electro-optical (EO) systems and other equipment.
About the Role
You will carry out ESS and vibration testing in line with approved procedures, MIL-STD-810, manufacturer specifications and internal quality rules. That means setting up fixtures, cabling and sensors, checking limits and safety interlocks, running single-axis and multi-axis (including 3-axis) vibration systems, and recording results and anomalies as they happen. You will report abnormal responses to engineers, keep test reports and records in order, and work with EO technicians, engineers, quality and MRO or production teams. The listing notes that ESS is for screening and acceptance and does not replace formal qualification testing unless authorised.
Career Impact & Growth Opportunity
EDGE says it offers a learning academy and digital learning platforms, strong career support and the chance to work with talent from around the world. The group describes itself as a UAE advanced technology group launched in November 2019 with more than 35 specialised companies.
Why This Role Matters
Screening finds weak solder joints, loose parts and early failures before equipment reaches the customer. Careful test data helps engineers fix problems at the source.
Key Responsibilities
- Run ESS activities on EO systems and other equipment to approved procedures, MIL-STD-810 and OEM specifications
- Operate single-axis and multi-axis vibration test systems for screening, acceptance and reliability checks
- Prepare fixtures, mounting, cabling, sensor placement and grounding, and verify limits and safety interlocks
- Monitor tests, record data and anomalies in real time, and report failures to engineers
- Look after test equipment, fixtures and sensors, and support calibration tracking and preventive maintenance
- Prepare test reports, logs, job cards and certificates for audits and traceability
- Follow safety, ESD and contamination-control rules
- Support continuous improvement of ESS processes and test efficiency
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or a related technical field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in ESS, vibration testing or environmental testing
- Hands-on experience operating single-axis and/or multi-axis vibration systems
- Able to read and follow test procedures, engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness and documentation discipline
- Preferred: basic understanding of EO systems, electronic assemblies or precision electro-mechanical equipment
- English proficiency, as EDGE requires it for all roles unless the posting says otherwise
About This Opportunity
EDGE says its salaries are highly competitive and tax-free and that, depending on role and seniority, benefits can include family visas, annual flight tickets, medical insurance for you and your dependents, and education allowances for children. These are general statements, not figures for this role, so ask what applies to you.
Who Should Apply
Test technicians who already run vibration or environmental screening systems and keep careful records should apply. EDGE encourages applicants to apply even if they do not meet every requirement. The listing gives no email address, so apply through the original EDGE job posting.
