As Quality Control Manager for bottled water production in UAE, your responsibilities include:
Quality Management Systems
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 standards
- Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all quality control activities
- Manage HACCP programs specific to bottled water production including hazard analysis and critical control points
- Ensure compliance with UAE food safety regulations, Dubai Municipality requirements, and international quality standards
- Implement document control systems, quality records management, and traceability protocols
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, supervise, and develop the Quality Control team across Fujairah and Dubai facilities
- Assign daily tasks, manage shift coverage, and ensure adequate QC staffing for production operations
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support professional development of QC personnel
- Train production staff on quality standards, testing procedures, and hygiene requirements
- Foster quality culture and continuous improvement mindset across the organization
Production Quality Oversight
- Monitor and control quality parameters for 5-gallon bottle production including filling, capping, labeling, and packaging
- Oversee PET bottle quality including preform inspection, blow molding, filling, and closure integrity
- Conduct in-process quality checks for water treatment, filtration, ozonation/UV sterilization, and bottling operations
- Verify raw water quality, treated water specifications, and finished product compliance
- Manage bottle washing/sanitization quality control and hygiene verification programs
Testing & Laboratory Management
- Supervise laboratory operations including microbiological, chemical, and physical water testing
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment including pH meters, conductivity meters, turbidity meters, and microbiology incubators
- Review test results for total dissolved solids (TDS), pH, turbidity, chlorine/ozone residuals, and microbial counts
- Manage external laboratory coordination for specialized testing and regulatory compliance samples
- Maintain laboratory accreditation and quality control standards
Regulatory Compliance & Audits
- Ensure full compliance with UAE food safety regulations, Dubai Municipality standards, and Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA) requirements
- Prepare for and manage internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections
- Coordinate ISO 9001 certification audits and HACCP verification assessments
- Maintain audit readiness and implement corrective actions for audit findings
- Manage product registration, label approvals, and regulatory documentation
Quality Assurance Across Branches
- Travel between Fujairah production facility and Dubai branch to ensure consistent quality standards
- Conduct quality assessments at distribution points and customer locations
- Verify that both facilities maintain identical quality protocols and specifications
- Coordinate quality activities across multiple locations and ensure standardized procedures
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Investigate quality issues, customer complaints, and production deviations
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Monitor quality KPIs including defect rates, customer complaints, and right-first-time metrics
- Lead quality improvement projects to reduce waste, rework, and non-conformances
- Implement best practices and quality innovations in bottled water production
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this bottled water QC manager position must meet:
Educational Requirements (MANDATORY)
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related scientific field
Experience Requirements (MANDATORY)
- 3–5 years of experience in Quality Control management within beverage industry (bottled water production strongly preferred)
- Hands-on experience with 5-gallon bottle production including washing, filling, capping, and quality verification (MANDATORY)
- Proven expertise in PET bottle production quality including blow molding, filling, and packaging (MANDATORY)
- Previous management experience supervising QC teams and laboratory personnel
- Experience working in UAE or GCC region with understanding of local regulations is highly advantageous
Technical Knowledge & Certifications
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems implementation and maintenance (MANDATORY)
- Deep understanding of HACCP principles and application in beverage manufacturing (MANDATORY)
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE food safety regulations, Dubai Municipality standards, and ESMA requirements (MANDATORY)
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification preferred
- HACCP certification from recognized training body preferred
- Understanding of water treatment processes including filtration, reverse osmosis, UV/ozone sterilization, and mineral adjustment
