Responsibilities — How Will You Help Us Grow?

As Production Agronomist at Corteva Wahpeton, your responsibilities include:

Grower Relations & Contract Management

  • Serve as primary field contact for contracted soybean seed production growers
  • Manage all aspects of grower relations including acreage allocations and contracts
  • Handle conflict resolution maintaining positive grower relationships
  • Recruit new growers expanding seed production network
  • Ensure highest quality seed is being produced across all grower contracts

Digital Agriculture & Data-Driven Decisions

  • Utilize digital tools and data to drive decisions enhancing quality and yield
  • Leverage farm equipment monitors and field mapping programs
  • Apply unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) technology for field monitoring
  • Analyze production data identifying opportunities for improvement

Production Coordination & Management

  • Coordinate variety placement ensuring optimal seed production outcomes
  • Manage integrated pest management programs protecting crop quality
  • Oversee planting operations according to Corteva standards
  • Ensure proper field isolation maintaining genetic purity
  • Conduct field inspections throughout growing season
  • Coordinate harvest operations maximizing seed quality and yield

Leadership & Supervision

  • Utilize leadership skills supervising seasonal workers during peak workloads
  • Provide direction and training to seasonal staff
  • Coordinate activities across multiple locations and teams

Safety & Quality Standards

  • Lead safety programs across all production activities
  • Strongly support growth and maintenance of Corteva’s safety culture
  • Implement and maintain soybean quality standards
  • Meet targeted yields and other planning parameters agreed upon with Production Management

Flexibility & Certification

  • Obtain appropriate licenses and certifications when needed
  • Work and manage flexible hours and days during critical busy seasons throughout year
  • Adapt to seasonal demands of seed production calendar

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this production agronomist position must possess:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Agronomy or Agricultural field)
  • Agricultural-related experience or background
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Knowledge of agronomic practices including pest management, disease identification, and product placement
  • Good verbal communication skills with ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience
  • Significant experience with computer software and programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience working with seed growers and seed plant operations
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) certification
  • UAV pilot certification for drone operations
  • Leadership or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Digital Agriculture including farm equipment monitors, field mapping programs, and unmanned aerial vehicles
  • Priority management abilities (handle multiple tasks simultaneously with urgency)
