The Agronomist at EUROCERT California will be a critical member of the agricultural certification and inspection team, responsible for managing agricultural sector databases, monitoring task execution through an electronic platform, conducting field audits and inspections of producer groups and agricultural product packaging and handling units, and verifying the completeness and accuracy of agricultural product compliance files.  Key Responsibilities

Database & Platform Management

  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date databases related to the agricultural sector, including producer records, certification files, and compliance documentation
  • Monitor the correct execution of certification tasks and workflows through EUROCERT’s electronic platform, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Check the completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of all agricultural product files submitted by producers and handlers
  • Generate reports and data outputs from the platform to support audit preparation, compliance tracking, and certification decision-making

Field Audits & Agricultural Inspections

  • Conduct on-site audits and inspections of producer groups across California to verify compliance with GlobalGAP certification requirements
  • Inspect agricultural product packaging and handling units to ensure adherence to GlobalGAP standards, food safety guidelines, and agricultural regulations
  • Evaluate producer practices against GlobalGAP control points and flag non-conformances with clear documentation and recommended corrective actions
  • Travel to farm sites, packhouses, and agricultural handling facilities across California as required by audit schedules and certification cycles

Compliance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and application of agricultural product regulations, handling guidelines, and GlobalGAP control point requirements
  • Prepare detailed, accurate audit reports documenting inspection findings, non-conformances, and recommendations for producer corrective actions
  • Communicate audit outcomes clearly and professionally to producers, producer groups, and internal EUROCERT stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement in producer compliance levels through follow-up monitoring, guidance, and technical advisory inputs

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a closely related agricultural science discipline from a recognized university or institution
  • Additional training or certification in GlobalGAP standards is required — formal GlobalGAP training courses are strongly preferred
  • HACCP knowledge, qualification, or training is preferred and will significantly strengthen a candidate’s application

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of practical working experience in the agriculture sector — field agronomy, crop production, agricultural auditing, or quality systems experience preferred
  • Proven experience working with GlobalGAP quality systems including knowledge of GlobalGAP control points, audit checklists, and certification processes
  • Hands-on experience conducting field inspections, producer audits, or agricultural compliance assessments is a strong advantage

Visa & Work Authorization
