Position Overview
This Kitchen Technician role at JW Marriott Dubai Marina is a hands-on, non-management engineering position covering MEP systems maintenance, kitchen and food service equipment repair, HVAC troubleshooting, plumbing, electrical, and preventive maintenance across one of Dubai’s premier luxury hotel properties. You will respond to and attend to guest repair requests, communicate with guests to resolve issues, perform preventive maintenance, read blueprints and electrical schematics, safely perform complex repairs of physical property systems, and carry out Engineer on Duty responsibilities — all in line with Marriott standards and UAE local codes.

Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Equipment & Guest Repair Response
- Respond and attend to guest repair requests promptly and professionally with little to no supervision
- Communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues, ensuring a positive and seamless guest experience
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs on all types of kitchen equipment and hotel food service systems
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment safely and in compliance with Lockout/Tagout procedures
MEP Systems Troubleshooting & Repair
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems
- Safely perform highly complex repairs of physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, plumbing, electrical equipment, lamps, HVAC units, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, electrical switches, and outlets
- Ensure all repair methods, materials, and practices meet Marriott company standards and applicable local and national codes
Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Inspection
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment including regular cleaning and lubrication
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines to identify wear, damage, or maintenance needs proactively
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed to keep operations running smoothly
- Display advanced knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance and energy management
Blueprint Reading & Technical Standards
- Display advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC systems
- Display above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability
- Display proficiency across multiple disciplines including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and energy conservation
- Use the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) system before performing any maintenance work without exception
Shift Communication, Safety & Engineer on Duty
- Assure each day’s activities and problems are communicated to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards
- Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities including readings and rounds
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures, and report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries
- Display ability to train and mentor other engineers as necessary within the hotel engineering team
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with a vocational or technical background (REQUIRED)
- Technical or vocational certification in electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, or a related trade is a strong advantage
Experience Requirements
- At least 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience (REQUIRED)
- Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical, or refrigeration
- Experience with parts inventory, requisition, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting
- No supervisory experience required — this is a non-management position
Certifications & Licensing
- Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification — REQUIRED for this role
- Valid Driver’s License — REQUIRED
- Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders as required
- Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
