Position Overview
This Senior Structural Engineer – Formwork role designs self-climbing and crane-supported climbing formwork systems, performs structural analysis, and prepares detailed calculation reports for temporary works. You will develop structural models in STAAD Pro, verify structural adequacy across all construction stages, assess wind load effects on climbing systems, review shop drawings for constructability, provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, and coordinate with project managers, consultants, and site teams throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Formwork Design & Structural Analysis
- Design self-climbing, crane-supported climbing, and proprietary formwork systems
- Perform structural analysis and prepare detailed calculation reports for temporary works
- Develop structural models using STAAD Pro or equivalent, including finite element analysis
- Verify structural adequacy and stability of formwork solutions during all construction stages
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with BS 5975, EN 12812, EN 12811, Eurocodes, ACI, and BS Codes
- Review and approve engineering calculations prepared by Design Engineers
- Develop and maintain standard engineering calculation templates and methodologies
- Assess wind load effects on climbing systems and other temporary works
- Design and verify lifting arrangements and climbing sequences
- Review shop drawings and fabrication drawings for technical accuracy and constructability
- Provide engineering support during commissioning and implementation of Jumpform systems
Leadership & Coordination
- Provide technical guidance to Design Engineers and mentor Junior Structural Engineers
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Site Engineers
- Attend technical meetings with consultants, clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Review RFIs and provide appropriate engineering responses
Quality, Risk & Continuous Improvement
- Review design documentation and participate in internal and external technical audits
- Review engineering risks associated with climbing operations
- Support incident investigations requiring engineering input
- Support commercial teams with technical proposals and value engineering initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred
- Chartered Engineer status is preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant structural/formwork engineering experience
- Minimum age 30 years
- Proven experience in self-climbing and crane-supported climbing formwork systems
- Experience with PERI, Doka, or equivalent formwork systems
- Experience in high-rise building engineering projects is essential
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design
- Knowledge of international design codes: Eurocodes, ACI, BS, BS 5975, EN 12812, EN 12811
- Experience in structural modelling using STAAD Pro or equivalent; finite element analysis knowledge preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MS Project, and STAAD Pro; Primavera P6 knowledge preferred
