Position Overview

The Food Safety Officer in Saudi Arabia is responsible for the practical implementation, monitoring, and continuous maintenance of HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP systems across all relevant factory areas. Daily duties include conducting inspections of production and sanitation areas, following up on laboratory results and non-conformities, preparing food safety documentation and reports, training employees on hygiene and food safety procedures, investigating food safety incidents, reviewing corrective and preventive actions, and supporting the overall improvement of the factory’s food safety management framework — making this a high-responsibility, high-impact role for a committed food safety professional.

Why This Role Matters: As a Food Safety Officer in Saudi Arabia, you are on the frontline of consumer protection — ensuring every product that leaves the factory has been produced under the safest, most hygienic, and most compliant conditions possible. Your daily inspections catch risks before they become recalls, your training empowers employees to maintain standards without supervision, your documentation creates the evidence trail that protects the factory during audits, and your corrective actions close the gaps that could compromise food quality, safety, and the company’s reputation.

 Key Responsibilities

HACCP, ISO 22000 & GMP System Implementation

  • Implement, monitor, and actively maintain HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP systems and requirements across all factory operations
  • Conduct routine inspections across production areas, hygiene zones, sanitation stations, and food processing environments
  • Ensure raw materials, equipment, facilities, and all production processes comply with required food safety and quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement of the factory’s food safety and quality management systems through proactive review and action

Inspection, Monitoring & Non-Conformance Management

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of production, hygiene, sanitation, and processing areas on a daily basis
  • Follow up on laboratory results, non-conformities, corrective actions, and preventive measures to ensure full resolution
  • Respond to food safety incidents, investigate potential root causes, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures
  • Regularly review and maintain food safety records, inspection checklists, procedures, and all supporting documentation

Documentation, Reporting & Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive food safety documentation in line with HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP requirements
  • Prepare daily and weekly food safety reports for management review and continuous performance tracking
  • Ensure all inspection records, corrective action forms, non-conformance reports, and checklists are completed and filed correctly
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining documentation that meets both internal and external food safety audit requirements

Employee Training & Food Safety Culture

  • Train and guide factory employees on food safety principles, personal hygiene, sanitation practices, and proper operating procedures
  • Deliver practical food safety training that builds employee awareness and embeds a genuine food safety culture across the facility
  • Monitor employee adherence to food safety, hygiene, and GMP standards and follow up on any observed deviations promptly
  • Support new employee induction by providing relevant food safety orientation and role-specific hygiene training

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline — required for this food safety role
  • Accredited training or certification in Food Safety and Quality Management Systems — HACCP and ISO 22000 — from a TVTC-recognised institution or equivalent accredited body

Experience Requirements

  • 1–2 years of relevant practical experience within a food manufacturing or food production environment
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of HACCP principles, ISO 22000 requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct food safety inspections, prepare accurate reports, and follow up on corrective actions

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Strong practical knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP systems as applied in food manufacturing environments
  • Good skills in reporting, documentation management, corrective action follow-up, and cross-functional communication
  • Demonstrated ability to train and guide production employees on food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and a genuine personal commitment to maintaining the highest food safety and quality standards
