Position Overview
This CSE Engineer — New Building Solutions (Product) at KONE Dubai provides technical expertise on optimal KONE product selection for customers, understands how customer needs translate into product-specific requirements, and is fully accountable for coordinating all engineering work until project handover to maintenance. The role covers non-standard solutions and special engineering tendering across Elevators, Escalators, Autowalks, and MRL high-rise systems — selecting correct product platforms, performing product costings, creating detailed custom product specifications, executing technical site surveys, producing energy calculations, performing traffic analyses, creating layouts, coordinating product lead times, ensuring installability and maintainability, ensuring compliance with local codes and KONE’s Engineering Policy, and providing technical training to sales, installation, and maintenance teams as required.
Why This Role Matters: As CSE Engineer for New Building Solutions at KONE in Dubai, you are the technical authority that determines whether a customer’s vertical transportation requirement is met with the right product, at the right cost, on the right timeline, in a way that can actually be installed, maintained, and operated safely for the full product lifecycle. When your non-standard high-rise elevator specification correctly translates an architectural constraint into a buildable product configuration that competitors said could not be done within the budget, your energy calculation correctly accounts for the traffic demand profile of a mixed-use tower that changes the shaft count recommendation by one car and saves the developer meaningful cost per floor, or your product compliance review identifies a local code requirement that the sales team’s initial tender had missed before it became a site problem — you are not performing a support function. You are delivering the engineering judgement that makes a KONE project technically and commercially successful from the very first customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Product Selection, Planning & Customer Collaboration
- Find the optimal KONE product to meet each customer’s needs for non-standard projects with special engineering requirements — selecting the correct product platform, ensuring the offer is competitive, and providing pre-booking reviews covering technical product, costs, lead times, risks, and verification of technical contract content
- Create detailed, custom product plans for non-standard cases — collaborating with the Supply Line Engineering team when needed to produce product specifications covering both corporate and local materials across elevator, escalator, autowalk, and MRL high-rise product lines
- Perform initial and revised non-standard energy calculations and traffic analyses — applying KONE’s engineering methodology to ensure product recommendations are technically accurate, energy-compliant, and optimally sized for the customer’s actual building traffic demand
- Provide technical expertise support to the FL CSE, field operations, and sales teams throughout the delivery process — enabling order management and successful implementation of KONE products and service solutions that meet customer contract specifications by cost and lead-time effectively
Costing, Lead Times, Installability & Maintainability
- Perform correct product costings in non-standard cases — involving Supply Line, installation, maintenance, and project management to accurately understand both material and service cost components for corporate and local materials
- Coordinate product lead times from Supply Line and local sourcing — ensuring product availability commitments are accurately reflected in customer offers and project schedules before order confirmation
- Ensure the proposed product can be installed — assessing the cost and work effort impact of installation as an integral part of product planning, especially in non-standard installation situations where standard methods cannot be directly applied
- Ensure the proposed product fulfils the customer’s full product lifecycle needs — identifying deviations from standard maintenance methods and ensuring resolutions are found and documented before project handover to maintenance
Compliance, Layout Creation & Delivery Process Accountability
- Ensure the proposed product fulfils all local codes, regulations, and safety requirements — maintaining alignment with environmental regulations and confirming that every planned product complies with KONE’s Engineering Policy and applicable UAE and GCC standards
- Accountable for technical site surveys and technical content of orders between Milestones 0b and 2z — when assigned overall engineering accountability for a project, owning the complete technical record from initial survey through to validated order documentation
- Create layouts and analyse change requirements — proposing new product design responses to change requirements, providing needed details to the CSE Specialist on material ordering and documentation, and supplying product-related information to Project Managers, Installation Supervisors, and Maintenance Supervisors
- Provide technical training to Sales, Installation, and Maintenance teams — sharing knowledge, contributing to product and new service release information sessions, and offering input to product offering management on customisation, standardisation, and interface requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering — from an accredited institution with solid academic grounding in structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering principles applicable to vertical transportation systems
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the elevator industry — with hands-on exposure to product planning, specification, costing, and technical project coordination across elevator, escalator, or related vertical transportation systems
- AutoCAD proficiency — applied to layout creation, technical drawing review, and product specification development in a vertical transportation engineering context
- Proficient in MS Office — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for technical reporting, cost modelling, and client-facing product presentations
- Excellent communication and influencing skills in English — with Arabic language capability as a valued asset in the UAE and GCC market context
- Strong collaboration skills — proven ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds across sales, operations, installation, maintenance, supply line, and project management functions
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail — ability to distinguish important technical information from irrelevant or minor details in complex non-standard product engineering scenarios
Preferred / Advantageous Skills
- Technical understanding of elevator, escalator, and Advanced People Flow solutions — including MRL elevator systems, high-rise elevator engineering, and traffic analysis methodology
- Ability to work effectively with global colleagues — considering different time zones, language competencies, and cultural differences in working practices across KONE’s international engineering organisation
