Key Responsibilities
Design Review Phase — Compliance, Interface & Assurance
- Coordinate rolling stock design review activities with the client’s engineering team — assessing designs for compliance with project specifications, operational requirements, safety standards, and applicable railway regulations
- Coordinate design review activities with rolling stock suppliers and manufacturers — and liaise with Design & Build contractors to ensure effective integration of rolling stock requirements across project interfaces
- Facilitate the development and management of interfaces between rolling stock systems and other project packages — including infrastructure, signalling, telecommunications, depots, and maintenance facilities
- Support and coordinate rolling stock system assurance and safety assurance activities — identifying technical risks and supporting the development of mitigation measures during design development
- Participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination meetings — representing rolling stock engineering interests across the project team
Construction Supervision — Manufacturing, Testing & Quality
- Manage assigned rolling stock packages throughout manufacturing, testing, delivery, and commissioning stages — chairing progress meetings with suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders
- Monitor manufacturing progress and delivery schedules — ensuring compliance with project programmes and milestones, and escalating schedule risks promptly
- Conduct factory inspections, site inspections, and witness testing activities — reviewing and assessing Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures and associated test reports
- Monitor quality assurance and quality control activities undertaken by suppliers and contractors — coordinating supervision activities undertaken by Jacobs engineering specialists in supplier manufacturing facilities
Delivery, Handover & Change Management
- Monitor compliance with contractual requirements, technical specifications, and applicable standards throughout the manufacturing and delivery phase
- Support issue resolution and change management activities during manufacturing and delivery — coordinating technical and contractual responses across stakeholders
- Manage the rolling stock handover process — including documentation review, certification, and acceptance activities through to operational readiness
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and risk assessments for project stakeholders — ensuring senior management and client visibility of rolling stock programme status
Stakeholder Management & Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate technical reviews with the client, operator, and maintainer — ensuring operational and maintenance objectives are reflected in rolling stock design and delivery outcomes

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related discipline (REQUIRED)
- Professional Engineering registration or chartered engineering status is desirable
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 8–12 years of rolling stock experience within railway, metro, passenger, or freight rail projects (REQUIRED)
- Proven experience in rolling stock design review, manufacturing oversight, testing, commissioning, or construction supervision (REQUIRED)
