 Position Overview
This Junior Control Room Operator role involves safely and efficiently shutting down and restarting production per plant operating procedures, controlling operating parameters via the distributed control system, and recording equipment changes and abnormal conditions. You will perform daily routine tasks including log sheets and maintenance work requests, liaise with the maintenance team on crane availability, and promptly report any HSE breaches to the Shift Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities
Plant Operation & DCS Control
- Safely and efficiently shut down and restart production per plant operating procedures
- Control operating parameters from the distributed control system, manually or automatically
- Observe proper operating procedures with reference to time and load when bringing equipment into service
Documentation & Coordination
- Record all equipment changes and any abnormal or unusual conditions
- Perform daily routine tasks including log sheets and maintenance work requests
- Coordinate daily operational activities with Plant Operators
- Liaise closely with the maintenance team on crane availability activities
Safety & Reporting
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and an orderly work area around crane and hopper deck
- Report promptly any breaches of HSE procedures to the Duty Shift Team Leader
- Notify the Shift Team Leader of defective equipment or unsatisfactory material conditions
- Actively participate in and promote health, safety, and environmental campaigns and initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Diploma in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Energy from Waste or Power Plant Operations or Maintenance
- Specific expertise in resource recovery material handling and waste processing preferred
- Preferably certified in boiler plant operations
Essential Skills
- Thorough knowledge of steam boiler plant principles, plant chemistry, and combustion dynamics
- Clear understanding of equipment interlocks, alarms, trips, and plant control loops
- Completed operator training program or equivalent power plant work-related experience
- Ability to react quickly and with good judgment during emergencies
- Intermediate English language skills
