 Position Overview
Production Operatives are responsible for inspecting incoming materials, identifying prohibited or contaminated waste, supporting safe material handling, and maintaining site quality, safety, and cleanliness standards, working closely with Weighbridge and Operations teams.
Why This Role Matters: As Production Operative, you inspect incoming concrete, asphalt, bricks, and other permitted materials against acceptance requirements, identify and reject prohibited or hazardous materials, including suspected asbestos, wood, and contaminants, safely direct incoming trucks in coordination with Weighbridge and Operations teams, inspect and sort materials on conveyor belts, removing plastic, metal, wood, and general waste, maintain clean and safe picking-station and work areas, alert plant and mobile-equipment operators about unsuitable materials, blockages, or abnormal loads, and support general labouring and basic maintenance activities within training and authorization, following all HSE and environmental procedures throughout.
Key Responsibilities
Material Inspection & Rejection
- Inspect incoming concrete, asphalt, bricks, and other permitted materials against acceptance requirements
- Identify and reject prohibited or hazardous materials, including suspected asbestos and rubbish
Truck Coordination & Record-Keeping
- Safely direct incoming trucks in coordination with Weighbridge and Operations teams
- Maintain rejected-truck records and report rejected loads to the relevant team
Conveyor Sorting & Site Cleanliness
- Inspect and sort materials on conveyor belts and remove plastic, metal, wood, and general waste
- Maintain clean and safe picking-station and work areas
Safety Reporting & Support Duties
- Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately
- Support general labouring and basic maintenance activities within training and authorization
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- Relevant training or practical experience in material inspection, waste handling, recycling, or plant operations
- Gulf/UAE experience is preferred
Essential Skills
- Good understanding of safety, environmental, and material acceptance requirements
- Ability to identify contaminated, hazardous, or prohibited materials
- Physically fit and able to work in an industrial/site environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
