Position Overview
The Chemist role at Ecolab in Abu Dhabi is a full-time, on-site scientific position focused on executing technical laboratory activities in support of technical platform development. You will conduct analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances, develop new processing methods, examine potential applications for technical platforms, collect and analyze data, and summarize findings in detailed technical reports. This role requires a chemistry professional with strong analytical instrumentation knowledge, hands-on laboratory experience under GMP conditions, and the ability to develop innovative solutions that drive meaningful business impact for one of the world’s most respected science companies operating in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Analysis & Experimentation
- Conduct comprehensive analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances to determine and evaluate their technical applications
- Conduct controlled experiments to improve upon or successfully duplicate various materials and chemical substances
- Engage in applied research to develop new and improved methods of chemical processing or production
- Examine potential new applications and uses for existing technical platforms across Ecolab’s diverse product portfolio
- Conduct analyses and experiments in direct support of product application development and customer solution programs
Data Collection, Technical Reporting & Innovation
- Execute assignments involving rigorous data collection, technical analysis, and summarizing findings in comprehensive written technical reports
- Present findings and recommendations clearly at key project checkpoints to internal stakeholders and project teams
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebook records and properly file all reports for experimental work in compliance with GMP standards
- Develop and select appropriate analytical methods, tests, and procedures for complex technical assignments as required
- Develop innovative applications and extensions of existing or new products, processes, systems, or methods of major business importance
Technical Platform Development & IP Protection
- Contribute meaningfully to the development of differentiated technology, products, processes, and systems for Ecolab’s technical platform
- Ensure that proprietary project innovations are appropriately protected through proper legal instruments including patents and IP filings
- Provide professional technical support to the divisional team across multiple chemistry and application development projects
- Collaborate with multi-function project teams to deliver complex technical solutions and platform development milestones
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Qualifications — Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry is required — note that Biology or Biochemistry alone may not be a perfect fit for Nalco operations
- 3–5 years of relevant laboratory experience is preferred, ideally in the chemical blending industry (first preference) or third-party laboratories
- Operating knowledge of analytical laboratory instrumentation used in chemical analysis and research environments
- Working knowledge of physical analysis, spectrophotometric analysis, quantitative analysis, and qualitative analysis techniques
- Preferred working knowledge of chromatographic analysis methods including HPLC or GC systems
- Previous hands-on experience working under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) laboratory conditions is strongly preferred

- Experience applying scientific thinking principles to define problems, collect data, analyze potential solutions, and draw valid conclusions
- Demonstrated success working on complex, multi-function technical project teams in a professional laboratory environment
