Position Overview

The Software Engineer, AI Integrations at Commure in Mountain View is a full-time engineering role at the heart of the company’s AI Integration Team — the group responsible for ensuring seamless data flow between Commure’s platform and over 40 Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems. You will design and implement complex integration solutions between Commure’s platform and third-party healthcare systems, leverage the latest LLM technology to automate the reverse-engineering of EHR data, ensure interoperability through HL7 and FHIR standards, take end-to-end ownership from design through deployment and monitoring, and contribute to the technical direction of the integration platform that processes $25 billion in annual healthcare claims.

Why This Role Matters: As a Software Engineer in AI Integrations at Commure, you will directly shape how 500,000+ clinicians access and exchange healthcare data daily, apply cutting-edge LLM technology to solve one of healthcare’s most complex interoperability challenges, build high-performance integrations across 60+ EHR systems that support over 200 million patient interactions, earn $130K–$190K at a Fortune Future 50 company in the heart of Silicon Valley, and contribute to eliminating the $1 trillion administrative burden that slows healthcare delivery across the United States.

Key Responsibilities

EHR Integration Design & Implementation

  • Ensure all integrations deliver high reliability, scalability, and performance across Commure’s network of 60+ integrated EHR and EMR systems
  • Take full end-to-end ownership of integration workflows — from design and development through deployment, post-launch monitoring, and continuous optimization
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex integration issues, and proactively improve production reliability across all active integrations

LLM Technology & Healthcare AI Innovation

  • Leverage the latest developments in Large Language Model (LLM) technology to automate the reverse-engineering of complex electronic health records
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the integration platform by proposing and implementing improvements to architecture, tools, and emerging technologies
  • Stay current with industry trends in healthcare technology, integration patterns, and new AI tools — continuously applying innovations that improve system capabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning product, engineering, and healthcare to define technical integration approaches and prioritize based on business impact

Compliance, Security & Healthcare Standards

  • Collaborate with dedicated security teams to protect sensitive patient and healthcare provider data across all integrations and data exchange workflows
  • Drive best practices for integration development covering testing, error handling, version control, and continuous integration across the AI integration team
  • Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to implement robust monitoring and alerting systems that ensure integration reliability and system health in production

Agile Development & Team Collaboration

  • Participate actively in agile development cycles including sprint planning, retrospectives, and day-to-day engineering collaboration within a fast-moving team
  • Move fast, deploy daily, and take full ownership from early-stage thinking through production — Commure’s engineering culture demands and rewards this approach
  • Contribute your ideas and expertise to shape the technical direction of the AI integration platform and the broader Commure engineering organization

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent extensive professional software development experience
