Position Overview
The Software Engineer, AI Integrations at Commure in Mountain View is a full-time engineering role at the heart of the company’s AI Integration Team — the group responsible for ensuring seamless data flow between Commure’s platform and over 40 Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems. You will design and implement complex integration solutions between Commure’s platform and third-party healthcare systems, leverage the latest LLM technology to automate the reverse-engineering of EHR data, ensure interoperability through HL7 and FHIR standards, take end-to-end ownership from design through deployment and monitoring, and contribute to the technical direction of the integration platform that processes $25 billion in annual healthcare claims.

Key Responsibilities
EHR Integration Design & Implementation
- Design and implement complex, high-performance integration solutions between Commure’s platform and third-party healthcare systems including EHRs and insurance providers
- Ensure all integrations deliver high reliability, scalability, and performance across Commure’s network of 60+ integrated EHR and EMR systems
- Take full end-to-end ownership of integration workflows — from design and development through deployment, post-launch monitoring, and continuous optimization
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex integration issues, and proactively improve production reliability across all active integrations
LLM Technology & Healthcare AI Innovation
- Leverage the latest developments in Large Language Model (LLM) technology to automate the reverse-engineering of complex electronic health records
- Contribute to the technical direction of the integration platform by proposing and implementing improvements to architecture, tools, and emerging technologies
- Stay current with industry trends in healthcare technology, integration patterns, and new AI tools — continuously applying innovations that improve system capabilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning product, engineering, and healthcare to define technical integration approaches and prioritize based on business impact
Compliance, Security & Healthcare Standards
- Ensure all integration work fully adheres to healthcare compliance and data security standards including HIPAA, HL7, and FHIR at all stages of development
- Collaborate with dedicated security teams to protect sensitive patient and healthcare provider data across all integrations and data exchange workflows
- Drive best practices for integration development covering testing, error handling, version control, and continuous integration across the AI integration team
- Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to implement robust monitoring and alerting systems that ensure integration reliability and system health in production

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent extensive professional software development experience
Experience & Technical Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software development experience in a production environment — with a clear track record of end-to-end ownership and delivery
- Proficiency in frontend languages including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for building responsive and functional integration interfaces
- Proficiency in backend languages — Python, Go, or C++ — for building high-performance, scalable integration services and APIs
- Hands-on experience with Git, GCP and/or AWS cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, and both relational and non-relational database systems
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools for production system health visibility and rapid incident response
- Proven track record of designing and implementing successful end-to-end solutions with sound architectural decision-making
