Position Overview
This Advanced Practice Nurse role is about developing nursing practice. You will shape your own APN position, advise on complex cases, coach colleagues and patients, find ways to improve care, bring research findings into practice, support projects and research, advise managers and represent the hospital in networks.
 Why This Role Matters: APNs link bedside care and nursing science. In this role you raise care quality, support colleagues, take part in research and help establish APN roles in a major trauma and rehabilitation hospital in Hamburg.
Key Responsibilities
Role Development & Consultation
- Develop and implement your APN role with the nursing directorate
- Consult in complex nursing situations and start cross-department measures with the multi-professional team
Coaching & Evidence-Based Practice
- Advise and train colleagues and patients
- Find chances to improve care
- Transfer evidence-based knowledge into patient-centred practice and promote a scientific approach
Projects & Networking
- Carry out or support project and research work
- Advise managers in the department and management
- Represent the hospital and build networks inside and outside
Qualifications & Requirements
Licence
- Permission to use a nursing title under the Pflegeberufegesetz, for example registered nurse, geriatric nurse or pediatric nurse
Education
- Completed degree in Advanced Practice Nursing or nursing science (Diplom or Master)
Experience
- Experience in anaesthesia and intensive care, neurology, neurosurgery or IMC, or a spinal cord injury centre
- Sufficient German skills; non-EU applicants need a valid German work permit
