Senior Food Auditor Position Overview
The Senior Food Auditor role at LRQA is a technically focused, client-facing position that combines independent audit work with subject matter expertise in the food industry. You’ll verify management systems at food businesses, either working alone or as part of an audit team, examining and assessing quality management systems against the relevant standards. The work goes beyond checking boxes. Clients benefit when auditors help them understand where their food management system is strong and where it can improve, so you’ll contribute to that improvement and act as a knowledgeable sparring partner for audits at key accounts. Technical leadership is part of the role too, as you’ll be the go-to expert in your field of food production and technology. Providing excellent service means understanding the requirements of the accreditation bodies and making sure audits meet them every time. You’ll also work to broaden and deepen LRQA’s relationships with clients, many of whom you’ll meet repeatedly over time, and contribute ideas that help shape the company’s services. Because the role spans many sites and many kinds of food business, no two weeks look the same, and the challenges range across every part of food safety and quality.
As Senior Food Auditor, you’ll develop deeper expertise in third-party auditing, the standards that drive food safety, and the working relationships that make audits effective. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the food industry, in process or technology, and has at least five years of experience in food production and technology, along with working experience in quality management and food safety. At least one third-party audit qualification is required, such as IFS Food, BRC Food, IFS Broker, IFS Logistics, or BRC Packaging, and additional qualifications in ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 are an advantage. Leadership, management, and stakeholder experience are valued, as is strong communication. Excellent spoken and written Dutch and English is required, and French is preferred. For food safety professionals in Belgium who want independence, variety, and a respected career in certification, this role offers a rewarding place to grow.
Why This Role Matters: As Senior Food Auditor at LRQA, you help food producers meet the standards that keep consumers safe, bring technical authority to audits across many clients, support improvement in real food management systems, shape LRQA’s services with your field experience, and build a senior career in food certification and assurance in Belgium.
