MENA Water FZC is looking for a qualified, motivated Lab Technician Cum Plant Operator to join its Water & Wastewater Treatment team in Sharjah, UAE. The role combines two jobs in one: laboratory analysis (pH, TDS, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, COD, BOD, TSS, and more) and plant operation — running and monitoring treatment plants, adjusting chemical dosing, and supporting biological treatment such as activated sludge systems. You will also run jar tests, calibrate and troubleshoot lab instruments, and report lab and operational data. The salary is AED 3,000 to 4,000 per month. A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in chemical engineering, chemistry, or environmental engineering and 2–5 years of plant and lab experience are required, with knowledge of RO, UF, ETP, STP, and WTP systems preferred.

This Lab Technician Cum Plant Operator role is a hands-on position for someone who likes both the lab bench and the plant floor. In the lab, you will run routine water and wastewater analyses to standard test methods, covering pH, TDS, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, COD, BOD, TSS, and other parameters, and carry out jar tests to fine-tune chemical dosing. On the plant side, you will operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment plants so they run efficiently and stay compliant, adjust dosing systems for coagulants, flocculants, and disinfectants, and support biological processes such as activated sludge. You will also operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab instruments, record and analyse data, and report results while following safety, environmental, and quality standards.  Key Responsibilities

Water & Wastewater Laboratory Analysis

• Conduct routine water and wastewater quality analyses according to standard test methods
• Test pH, TDS, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, COD, BOD, TSS, and other parameters
• Carry out jar tests to optimise chemical dosing and treatment performance
• Record, analyse, and report laboratory data accurately

Plant Operation & Chemical Dosing

• Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment plants for efficient, compliant operation
• Monitor and adjust dosing systems for coagulants, flocculants, disinfectants, and other treatment chemicals
• Support and monitor biological treatment processes, including activated sludge systems
• Report operational data and flag process issues early

Instruments & Equipment

• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and testing equipment
• Follow standard testing procedures and keep equipment records in order
• Report equipment faults promptly so testing stays reliable
• Keep the lab tidy and organised for safe, efficient work

Safety, Environment & Quality

• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Handle treatment chemicals safely and follow site procedures
• Support environmental regulation requirements through accurate records

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 2–5 years in water and wastewater treatment plant operation and laboratory testing
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry, wastewater analysis, biological treatment processes, and chemical dosing

Technical Skills

• Experience conducting jar tests and interpreting treatment performance data
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, analytical instruments, and standard testing procedures
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, and reporting skills; proficiency in MS Office

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of RO, UF, ETP, STP, and WTP systems
• Understanding of laboratory quality control and environmental regulations
