Position Overview
This Senior Endotoxin Testing Specialist role is built for someone who can read the science and the paperwork with equal confidence. You will give technical guidance on bacterial endotoxin testing programmes, oversee development and assessment of suitable test methods, and review approaches against USP and European Pharmacopoeia requirements. That includes LAL methodologies — gel-clot, chromogenic, turbidimetric — and recombinant factor C methods where they fit. You will review method suitability studies, inhibition and enhancement testing, endotoxin limits, maximum valid dilution calculations, acceptance criteria, standard curves, positive product controls, negative controls, and system suitability results. When results look wrong, you will review OOS, OOT, and atypical data, support root cause investigations, and advise on recovery, interference, and dilution strategies. You will also review endotoxin control across manufacturing, water systems, raw materials, equipment, and environments, check procedures, sampling plans, and records, support risk assessments and audit readiness, track changes in pharmacopeial chapters and guidance, and prepare technical reports and trend analyses.

Method Strategy & Pharmacopeial Compliance
- Provide technical guidance on bacterial endotoxin testing programmes for products, components, raw materials, and relevant medical devices

Method Suitability, Validation & Data Review
- Review method suitability studies, including inhibition and enhancement testing
- Evaluate endotoxin limits, maximum valid dilution calculations, and acceptance criteria
- Review analytical protocols, validation plans, verification reports, and method transfer documents
- Assess standard curves, positive product controls, negative controls, and system suitability results
Investigations & Contamination Control
- Review OOS, OOT, and atypical endotoxin results; support root cause investigations
- Guide endotoxin recovery, interference, dilution strategy, and analytical troubleshooting
- Evaluate control strategies across manufacturing, water systems, raw materials, equipment, and environments
- Support risk assessments involving endotoxin contamination and product safety
Documentation, Collaboration & Improvement
- Review procedures, sampling plans, test records, and controlled documents for completeness and compliance
- Work with microbiology, QC, QA, manufacturing, validation, and regulatory affairs teams
- Monitor changes in pharmacopeial chapters, regulatory guidance, and industry practice
- Recommend improvements to procedures, laboratory controls, documentation, and data integrity; prepare technical reports and trend analyses
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline
- Significant experience in pharmaceutical microbiology, bacterial endotoxin testing, or QC laboratory operations
- Experience reviewing endotoxin method suitability, validation, verification, and transfer studies
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of endotoxin testing principles, USP, and European Pharmacopoeia expectations
- Practical familiarity with LAL gel-clot, chromogenic, and turbidimetric methods, and an understanding of rFC
- Knowledge of inhibition and enhancement testing, interference sources, endotoxin limits, and dilution calculations
- Understanding of GMP, good documentation practice, laboratory quality systems, data integrity, pharmaceutical water systems, cleanrooms, sterilisation, and contamination control
Skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex laboratory data
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, SOPs, validation documents, and investigation records
