Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end poultry production including grow-out, breeder operations, hatchery coordination, processing plant integration
- Drive performance improvements in live production metrics (FCR, weight gain, livability, condemnation rates)
- Ensure production targets met while maintaining cost efficiency and operational scalability
Regulatory Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure full compliance with USDA, FSIS, FDA, and OSHA standards
- Implement and monitor HACCP, GMP, and SSOP programs across operations
- Prepare for and lead internal/external audits and regulatory inspections
Animal Welfare & Biosecurity
- Enforce strict biosecurity protocols preventing disease outbreaks (Avian Influenza)
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare guidelines (National Chicken Council standards)
- Partner with veterinarians on flock health programs and vaccination schedules
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and production teams across shifts
- Manage staffing, training, performance evaluations, succession planning
- Promote strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Plant & Equipment Management
- Oversee maintenance and performance of poultry housing systems, processing equipment, ventilation, automation systems
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability
Data-Driven Performance Management
- Analyze production data and KPIs to identify trends and implement corrective actions
- Utilize ERP or farm/plant management systems to monitor operations
- Deliver regular reports on production, costs, operational performance to senior leadership
Cost Control & Budget Management
- Manage operating budgets, labor costs, feed efficiency, resource utilization
- Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining product quality and compliance
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Food Science, or related field
- OR equivalent experience in poultry production management
Experience Requirements
- 5–10+ years of progressive experience in poultry production, live operations, or poultry processing plant management
- Strong knowledge of US regulatory frameworks (USDA, FSIS, OSHA, FDA)
- Hands-on experience with HACCP, biosecurity, and animal welfare programs
- Proven leadership experience managing large, multi-shift teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in vertically integrated poultry operations
- Background in high-volume processing plants or contract grower networks
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) beneficial in diverse workforce environments
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure preferred
