Essential Responsibilities
Modernization Configuration, Technical Proposals & Feasibility
- Develop modernization configurations and technical proposals in accordance with Otis company standards, safety codes, and specific customer requirements — ensuring technical credibility and commercial viability in every submission
- Evaluate the feasibility of modernization solutions by systematically assessing existing equipment condition, shaft constraints, machine room limitations, and all site-specific engineering challenges
- Review technical specifications, tender requirements, and consultant documentation — confirming compliance and identifying technical obligations before design and proposal development proceeds
- Support value engineering initiatives that optimise project costs without compromising Otis safety standards, EN81 compliance, or performance delivery for the customer
Site Surveys, Risk Identification & Standards Compliance
- Conduct comprehensive on-site surveys of existing elevator and escalator installations — issuing detailed survey reports that document technical findings, identified risks, and recommended modernization solutions
- Identify site safety risks during surveys and provide engineering mitigation recommendations — protecting both the installation team and the building’s occupants throughout the renovation programme
- Ensure all modernization solutions fully comply with UAE local authority requirements, EN81 elevator safety standards, Otis engineering standards, and all applicable elevator safety regulations
- Identify technical risks that could impact project costs, delivery timelines, or installation requirements — escalating proactively to enable early risk mitigation
Project Handover, Installation Support & Multi-Team Coordination
- Ensure complete and accurate technical handover of every awarded project to Project Management and Operations teams — providing full engineering clarity at the transition from pre-sales to delivery
- Support field teams during installation by resolving technical issues as they arise and clarifying engineering requirements in real time — maintaining installation programme momentum
- Coordinate with Otis factories, engineering centres, procurement, and logistics functions to ensure accuracy of all ordered materials — preventing costly errors and delays in material delivery
- Coordinate with and provide technical support to sales and estimation teams throughout the bid, award, and project delivery phases — acting as the primary technical authority for renovation works
Qualifications & Requirements
Critical Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of elevator industry experience — in modernization, engineering, field operations, technical support, installation, or service
- Strong knowledge of elevator and escalator modernization products, applications, and technical system configurations
- Experience in site surveying, technical estimation, and modernization solution development — with a proven track record of successful technical proposals and feasibility assessments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to a high level of accuracy
- Valid UAE driving license — mandatory for site visits across the Dubai and UAE market
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment — managing multiple simultaneous projects and responsibilities across sales, engineering, and operations teams
