Position Overview
This Food Safety & Halal Compliance Specialist role works internationally to evaluate the food safety and halal compliance of all existing and potential Emirates food & beverage suppliers and their products. You will schedule and conduct global audits, develop and update food safety and Halal compliance manuals, maintain the supplier self-assessment questionnaire in line with HACCP regulations, deliver technical training to stakeholders, and manage the Emirates product recall process as a key member of the recall team.

Key Responsibilities
Global Audit Planning & Execution
- Schedule, plan, and prepare the annual work programme for food safety and halal compliance audits of Emirates F&B partners globally
- Conduct independent, fair, and thorough food safety and Halal audits adhering to internationally recognised auditing principles
Compliance Documentation & Standards
- Develop and update the EK food safety and Halal compliance manuals
- Develop and maintain the EK-designed supplier self-assessment questionnaire in accordance with HACCP regulations
- Ensure annual supplier completion and follow up on corrective actions
- Review, approve, and maintain all ingredient declarations in the catering management system
Stakeholder Engagement & Training
- Conduct regular presentations to key stakeholders on legislative changes
- Develop and deliver technical training on the EK food safety program, GMPs, pest control, hygiene, and Halal compliance
- Liaise with EK Group Legal, Customer Affairs, and Insurance on food safety-related cases
- Investigate and respond to queries from EK Internal Audit and Dubai Municipality inspectors
Performance Analysis & Recall Management
- Identify supplier performance trends and recommend improvements to catering leadership
- Maintain accuracy of food safety and Halal documentation, incidents, and corrective actions
- Manage the EK defined product recall process as a pivotal recall team member
- Carry out regular product recall mocks and keep the recall register up to date
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Completed Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Science
- A degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or Environmental Health is an asset
Certification Requirements
- Internationally recognised Food Safety and Halal Internal or Lead Auditor Qualification
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience conducting Internal and External Food Safety and Quality Audits
- 5+ years of experience in Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, or Catering industries
- Experience in food manufacturing, catering, and food safety in a laboratory environment
- Experience in In-Flight Services or In-Flight Catering is considered an asset
Essential Skills
- Completed professional/operational training at an advanced level
- Excellent standard of written and spoken English
- Self-motivated
- Ability to travel internationally frequently for duty
