Position Overview
The Grain Facility Coordinator / Grain Processing Operator at Gold-Eagle Cooperative in Lu Verne, Iowa plays an essential role in overseeing the complete grain processing cycle — from receiving and storage through handling, drying, blending and loading — with unwavering dedication to efficiency, precision and grain quality. Working Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (with weekend availability during peak harvest seasons), this professional monitors grain quality consistently, operates facility equipment with skill and care, maintains the cleanliness and upkeep of grain facilities and equipment, and transitions seamlessly to support the agronomy department when the agronomy season ramps up. Key Responsibilities
Grain Receiving, Storage & Handling Operations
- Oversee and manage all grain receiving operations — accurately weighing, sampling and grading incoming grain deliveries from Gold-Eagle Cooperative’s farmer-member base in north-central Iowa.
- Manage grain storage activities — ensuring proper bin allocation, aeration management, temperature monitoring and inventory tracking across all grain storage facilities.
- Operate grain handling, conveying and elevator equipment with skill, precision and full adherence to safety protocols — maintaining efficient, uninterrupted grain flow through the facility at all times.
- Conduct thorough, consistent monitoring of grain quality — identifying moisture, temperature, insect or spoilage issues early and taking prompt corrective action to protect grain value and integrity.
Grain Drying, Blending & Load-Out
- Operate grain drying equipment — managing dryer settings, monitoring grain moisture content and adjusting drying parameters to achieve target specifications efficiently and with minimal shrinkage loss.
- Execute grain blending activities — combining grain lots of varying qualities or moisture levels to meet contractual or market specifications accurately and consistently.
- Coordinate grain load-out operations for trucks and rail — accurately filling orders, completing accurate scale tickets and load documentation and ensuring on-time, compliant delivery to buyers and end markets.
Facility Maintenance, Safety & Agronomy Support
- Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of grain facilities and equipment — performing routine housekeeping, pit cleaning, spout maintenance and facility inspections that support a safe, efficient working environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards across all grain facility operations — identifying and addressing hazards, following confined space entry procedures and maintaining a clean, safe and organized workplace.
- Transition seamlessly to support the agronomy department during the agronomy season — providing operational assistance across fertilizer, seed and chemical handling activities as directed by department supervisors.

Physical & Practical Requirements
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position — including prolonged periods of standing, working in confined spaces and at elevated heights, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs and ladders safely.
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions including heat and cold — as encountered across Iowa grain facility operations through all four seasons.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted — a routine physical requirement of grain facility operations.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record — required for operating company vehicles and equipment across the Lu Verne facility and cooperative locations.
