Position Overview
The Crop Consultant at Nutrien Ag Solutions in Jetmore, Kansas is a field-based sales and agronomy consulting role serving the agricultural grower community of Hodgeman County and the surrounding Kansas farming region. You will develop new grower prospects, maintain and grow existing grower relationships, drive crop input sales to meet and exceed profit margin goals, implement proprietary product sales strategies, consult on agronomy issues and prescribe appropriate solutions, ensure customer satisfaction with timely and accurate product delivery, perform initial credit reviews, collect outstanding receivables, and deliver the full-acre solutions that make Nutrien Ag Solutions the trusted crop advisor of choice for Kansas farmers.

Key Responsibilities
Grower Prospect Development & Sales Growth
- Develop new grower prospects within the Jetmore, Kansas territory — building a robust pipeline of potential customers through proactive outreach, referrals, farm visits, and community engagement in the local agricultural community
- Interact regularly with existing growers to strengthen relationships, understand their evolving crop needs, and identify opportunities to increase agricultural inputs sales — consistently meeting and exceeding established sales goals and profit margin targets
- Develop and implement strategies to increase the sales of Nutrien’s proprietary products including Loveland Products, Proven® Seed, and Dyna-Gro® Seed — positioning these brands as the preferred choice among Jetmore area growers
Agronomy Consulting & Issue Resolution
- Consult directly with growers on all aspects of agricultural production — diagnosing crop issues, analyzing field conditions, and prescribing appropriate agronomic actions and product solutions to resolve problems effectively
- Resolve issues associated with adverse product results — working with growers, Nutrien’s technical team, and product manufacturers to identify root causes and implement corrective recommendations that restore grower confidence
- Stay current with Kansas-specific crop production best practices, pest and disease pressures, soil health trends, and precision agriculture advancements — applying this knowledge to deliver genuinely expert agronomic advisory services to local farmers
Customer Satisfaction & Product Delivery
- Assure customer satisfaction for all products and services purchased from Nutrien Ag Solutions — including ensuring timely and accurate product delivery, verifying product quality on receipt, and addressing any delivery or product concerns professionally and promptly
- Build long-term, trust-based grower relationships through consistent follow-through, honest communication, and a genuine commitment to helping each customer achieve better yields, lower costs, and more sustainable production outcomes
Credit Management & Accounts Receivable
- Perform initial credit reviews for new and existing customers — assessing credit risk appropriately and providing complete, accurate information to the Credit Manager to support sound credit limit decisions that protect the business
- Collect outstanding accounts receivables from customers in a professional and respectful manner — maintaining positive customer relationships while ensuring Nutrien Ag Solutions’ receivable balances remain current and within acceptable aging parameters
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- University degree preferred — Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Business, or a related field
- In lieu of a degree: High school diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years of hands-on agriculture industry experience will be considered as an equivalent qualification
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience applying standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the agriculture industry — including practical knowledge of agricultural chemical application, crop input products, and agronomic services
- Sales experience in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field is preferred — with demonstrated ability to build grower relationships and meet or exceed sales targets
Key Skills for Success
- Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel — for sales reporting, customer record management, and business administration tasks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — able to build genuine, trusting relationships with Kansas farming families and communicate agronomic recommendations clearly and credibly
- Self-motivated and results-driven — comfortable working independently in a field-based territory sales role while consistently meeting sales performance expectations
