Why This Role Matters: As Accountant at CNS Arabia in Dubai — in a full-time entry to mid-level finance role that welcomes candidates with 0–2 years of experience — you will build a practical, hands-on foundation in real-world UAE business accounting across the complete spectrum of core accounting responsibilities, develop your Excel and accounting software expertise in a live Dubai business environment where accuracy, professionalism, and proactive initiative are genuinely valued, gain the UAE accounting experience and regulatory familiarity — including VAT compliance, UAE business practices, and Dubai commercial operations — that are the foundation of a strong, long-term finance career in the Gulf region, and join a company that recognises your potential and compensates you competitively based on the experience and competence you bring — with the opportunity to grow as the organisation grows and your accounting capability develops.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Daily Financial Transaction Recording

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company’s Dubai operations — recording all daily financial transactions including sales receipts, supplier payments, expense claims, petty cash disbursements, and inter-company transfers with the accuracy and timeliness that reliable financial management requires
  • Prepare and post journal entries for all financial transactions — ensuring that each entry is correctly classified to the appropriate account, accurately dated, supported by the relevant source document, and posted to the general ledger in a way that provides a complete and accurate accounting record for the period
  • Maintain the general ledger — reconciling account balances regularly, investigating and resolving any discrepancies between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger, and ensuring that all ledger accounts are current, accurate, and correctly coded at all times
  • Organise and maintain all financial documentation and accounting records — ensuring that invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, bank statements, and all other financial source documents are correctly filed, easily retrievable, and securely retained in accordance with the company’s document retention requirements and UAE regulatory obligations

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Management

  • Process supplier invoices and manage accounts payable activities — verifying invoice accuracy against purchase orders and delivery notes, coding invoices to the correct cost centre and account, obtaining required approvals, scheduling payments within agreed supplier payment terms, and maintaining the accounts payable ledger with accurate, current supplier balance information
  • Prepare payment runs and process supplier payments — coordinating with management for payment approval, executing bank transfers or cheque payments accurately and on schedule, updating payment records in the accounting system, and maintaining professional, responsive communication with suppliers regarding payment status and remittance information
  • Manage accounts receivable activities — preparing customer invoices accurately and promptly, recording customer receipts, monitoring outstanding customer balances against agreed credit terms, following up on overdue receivables professionally and persistently, and providing management with regular ageing reports that give clear visibility of outstanding customer balances and collection risks
  • Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable balances regularly — ensuring that ledger balances are accurate and complete, investigating and resolving any discrepancies between the accounting system and supplier or customer statements, and maintaining the clean, well-controlled creditor and debtor ledgers that accurate financial reporting requires

Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts — systematically matching each transaction in the accounting system against the corresponding entry on the bank statement, identifying any timing differences or unreconciled items, and ensuring that the company’s bank reconciliations are completed accurately and signed off within the monthly close timeline
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies identified during bank reconciliation — tracing the source of unmatched items, determining whether discrepancies represent timing differences, errors, or bank charges, and processing the necessary corrections or adjustments to bring the accounting records and bank balances into agreement
  • Manage petty cash administration — maintaining the petty cash fund at the approved float level, processing petty cash disbursements against properly authorised expense claims, reconciling the petty cash box balance against recorded disbursements, and preparing timely, accurate petty cash reimbursement requests with full supporting documentation
  • Monitor the company’s cash position and bank balances — providing management with regular cash flow updates and flagging any emerging cash management concerns that may affect the company’s ability to meet its upcoming payment obligations on time

Financial Reporting, VAT & Compliance Support

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements — including profit and loss accounts, balance sheet schedules, and cash flow statements — ensuring that all financial data is accurately compiled, correctly presented, and delivered to management within the agreed reporting timetable
  • Assist with UAE VAT compliance — maintaining VAT-compliant invoice records, compiling VAT input and output data for each tax period, supporting the preparation of VAT return workings, and ensuring that all financial transactions are correctly recorded with the appropriate VAT treatment in the accounting system
  • Support the preparation of management reports and financial analysis — compiling actual versus budget comparisons, expense analysis summaries, departmental cost reports, and other management information that supports informed business decision-making by company leadership
  • Assist with external audit preparation — compiling supporting schedules, gathering documentation requested by auditors, answering auditor queries with accurate information, and contributing to the smooth, efficient completion of the annual financial audit process

Excel, Accounting Software & Financial Administration

  • Use Microsoft Excel proficiently for financial data management, accounting calculations, reconciliation workings, reporting templates, and ad-hoc financial analysis — leveraging Excel’s full functionality including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation, and conditional formatting to produce accurate, well-structured financial workbooks
  • Utilise accounting software competently to record transactions, generate reports, and maintain financial records — whether the company uses QuickBooks, Tally ERP, SAP Business One, Zoho Books, Sage, or another platform, the ability to learn and operate the company’s chosen system quickly and accurately is a key success factor in this role
  • Perform general finance administrative tasks as required — supporting the finance function with document management, correspondence preparation, supplier and customer communication, filing, and any other administrative activities that keep the accounting operation running efficiently and professionally
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures — identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and enhance the efficiency of the accounting workflow, and contributing practical suggestions and implementation support for process improvements that benefit the finance function

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a closely related field — a relevant accounting or finance qualification is preferred and will strengthen a candidate’s application significantly
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA, CA, or equivalent) — either completed or currently in progress — is a meaningful additional advantage that demonstrates commitment to professional accounting career development

Experience & Skills

  • 0–2 years of accounting or finance experience — this role is equally open to motivated fresh accounting graduates with strong academic foundations and to early-career professionals with up to 2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or finance experience in the UAE or internationally
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency — a core technical requirement for this role; candidates should be comfortable using Excel for financial data entry, reconciliation workings, basic formulas, and management report preparation as a minimum baseline of Excel competence
  • Accounting software knowledge — experience with any recognised accounting software platform (QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, Zoho Books, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent) is a strong advantage and will significantly differentiate candidates who possess it in the selection process
  • Attention to detail and numerical accuracy — the foundational professional quality that accountants must demonstrate consistently, since errors in financial records have real consequences for business decisions, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder trust
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English — required for professional internal and external correspondence, documentation, and the day-to-day working communication that a Dubai-based commercial accounting environment demands
