Position Overview
This Chemist position focuses on executing technical laboratory activities in support of technical platform development at Ecolab’s Abu Dhabi facility. You will conduct comprehensive analyses and experiments, engage in innovative research, and contribute to developing differentiated technology solutions that help customers achieve clean water, safe food, abundant energy, and healthy environments across global markets.

What You Will Do
Chemical Analysis & Experimentation
- Conduct analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances to determine and evaluate their applications
- Conduct experiments to improve upon or duplicate various materials and substances
- Conduct analyses and experiments in support of product applications
- Assignments involve data collection, technical analysis, and summarizing findings
Research & Development
- Engage in research to develop new methods of processing or production
- Examine potential new uses for technical platforms
- Develop innovative applications and extensions of existing or new products, processes, systems, or methods
- Contribute to development of differentiated technology, products, processes, or systems
Technical Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare written technical reports at key project checkpoints
- Provide recommendations for proceeding to project conclusions
- Maintain accurate lab notebook records and file reports for experimental work
- Ensure proprietary project innovations are protected with proper legal instruments (patents)
Method Development & Analysis
- Develop and select appropriate methods, tests, and procedures for assignments
- Apply knowledge of physical analysis, spectrophotometric analysis, quantitative analysis, and qualitative analysis
- Utilize analytical laboratory instrumentation effectively
- Perform chromatographic analysis when required
Professional Support & Collaboration
- Provide professional divisional support across technical teams
- Work on complex, multi-function project teams
- Create innovative solutions toward key application issues for business
Basic Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Biology or Biochemistry may not be a perfect fit for Nalco operations)
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience preferred over 2 years, ideally in:
- Chemical blending industry (first option), OR
- Third-party laboratories (second option)
Technical Knowledge
- Operating knowledge of analytical laboratory instrumentation
- Knowledge of physical analysis, spectrophotometric analysis, quantitative analysis, and qualitative analysis
- Preferred knowledge of chromatographic analysis
- Previous experience working under GMP conditions preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying principles of scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, analyze solutions, and draw valid conclusions
- Demonstrated success working on complex, multi-function project teams
- Excellent people and team building skills, interacting with wide range of individuals
- Strong presentation skills with ability to clearly articulate technical subject matter
- Ability to create innovative solutions toward key application issues
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
