Position Overview
This senior Java role covers the backend of a mobile app built on Spring Boot with a clean onion architecture. You will also design event-driven flows with Apache Kafka and run services on Kubernetes using GitOps with ArgoCD.

Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
- Develop and extend the backend of the mobile app with Java and Spring Boot
- Design and evolve a clean onion architecture
- Integrate Firebase services such as authentication, push notifications and Firestore
Events & Operations
- Design and build event-driven processes with Apache Kafka
- Run, monitor and tune services on a Kubernetes cluster, including GitOps deployment with ArgoCD
Quality & Team
- Keep code quality high through reviews, automated tests and clear documentation
- Share knowledge and guide and support junior developers
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
- Several years in backend development, ideally at least eight with Java
- Very good Spring Boot skills (Spring Web, Data, Security)
- Backend experience for mobile apps, ideally offline-capable with data sync and conflict handling
Technical Skills
- Solid grasp of onion or clean architecture or MVC, plus practical domain-driven design
- Hands-on Kubernetes (Helm, ArgoCD, ingress, scaling, troubleshooting)
- Firebase integration and event-driven work with Apache Kafka
- Git, CI/CD and automated tests (JUnit, Mockito, integration tests)
Essential Skills
- German at C1 level and good English
- Independent, structured and solution-oriented way of working
- Nice to have: Angular, observability tools and Google Cloud Platform
