Position Overview
The Chemist at this leading Al Ain beverages company is a full-time, plant-based quality control role responsible for monitoring all beverage product quality parameters across every production run and flavor — ensuring taste, appearance, Brix, GV, microbiological, date code, closure function and net content all meet 100% satisfaction targets. The Chemist maintains Cpk ≥ 1.33 for Brix/GV, net content, ring torque and PET wall thickness using Carbo QC and stress crack analyser, conducts internal audits, leads corrective action plans (CAPs) after root cause analysis, manages non-conforming product segregation and supports the sustenance of QMS, FSMS, HACCP, EMS and OHSAS certifications — all while adhering to GMP, HSE and company policies.
Why This Role Matters: In a beverages manufacturing plant, the Chemist is the scientific guardian of product consistency, safety and regulatory compliance across every bottle, can and carton that leaves the production line. Every Brix reading you verify, every Cpk you maintain above 1.33 and every non-conforming product you correctly segregate is a direct protection of the consumer who expects the same taste, quality and safety in every single beverage product — and of the company’s QMS, FSMS and HACCP certifications that are the foundation of its market credibility and regulatory standing in the UAE.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Testing & Analytical Chemistry
- Perform comprehensive quality testing on beverages — monitoring taste, appearance, Brix, gas volume (GV), microbiological parameters, date codes, closure function, net content and PET wall thickness across all production runs and flavors.
- Maintain Brix and GV Cpk ≥ 1.33 for all runs and all flavors using Carbo QC instrumentation — ensuring product carbonation and sweetness consistency meets specification with validated statistical process capability.
- Maintain Net Content Cpk ≥ 1.33 and Ring Torque Cpk ≥ 1.33 for all runs and all flavors — applying Cpk analysis to confirm filling and closure process capability across the production schedule.
- Maintain PET wall thickness Cpk ≥ 1.33 using the stress crack analyser — ensuring PET container structural integrity and compliance with packaging specification requirements.
Food Safety, GMP & Compliance
- Comply fully with internal governance and quality management systems, HSE requirements, company policies, laboratory safety procedures, chemical handling guidelines, pollution control standards and all applicable UAE regulatory requirements during all testing and analysis activities.
- Follow GMP, hygiene and food safety requirements rigorously — maintaining cleanliness of work areas and preventing contamination of products, ingredients, packaging materials and equipment across all laboratory and plant activities.
- Sustain QMS, FSMS, HACCP, EMS and OHSAS certifications without any minor non-conformances — contributing to all certification maintenance activities, documentation and internal audit readiness throughout the year.
- Conduct 2 successful internal audits per year — evaluating compliance against quality and food safety system requirements and providing structured audit findings and corrective action recommendations.
Non-Conformance Management & CAPA
- Implement corrective action plans (CAPs) after root cause analysis (RCA) for all non-conforming products — completing all corrective actions within agreed timeframes and verifying effectiveness before closure.
- Ensure 100% segregation and isolation of non-conforming products — applying strict non-conforming material management procedures to prevent substandard products from reaching the market.
- Report any condition that may impact product quality, food safety or GMP compliance immediately — supporting rapid response to quality incidents and preventing escalation to regulatory or consumer safety issues.
