Career Growth: Be part of a company consistently recognized for rapid expansion and innovation
Position Overview
This role is flexible by design — whether managing the analyst team directly or coming in as a senior individual contributor as the team’s first point of escalation. What matters more than the org chart is operational judgment: the ability to look at an incomplete document set, a vague business description, or an unusual payment pattern, and know exactly what to do with it.
Why This Role Matters: As Compliance Operations Lead, you serve as the first escalation point for complex KYB, KYC, and enhanced due diligence cases before they reach the Head of Compliance, review and QA analyst decisions — risk ratings, evidence, disposition notes — to ensure they’re complete and defensible, set and track team SLAs and KPIs including case aging, turnaround times, and rework rates, build and maintain SOPs, escalation templates, and case documentation standards as the team scales, manage sanctions, PEP, and adverse media escalations, including false-positive review and evidence retention, and support transaction monitoring, spotting unusual payout patterns, rapid onboarding, or high-risk activity across a global compliance operation.
Key Responsibilities
Escalation & Case Review
- Be the first escalation point for complex KYB, KYC, and enhanced due diligence cases
- Review and QA analyst decisions — risk ratings, evidence, disposition notes
Team Performance & Documentation
- Set and track team SLAs and KPIs: case aging, turnaround times, QA findings, rework rates
- Build and maintain SOPs, escalation templates, and case documentation standards
Sanctions & Transaction Monitoring
- Manage sanctions, PEP, and adverse media escalations, including false-positive review
- Support transaction monitoring, spotting unusual payout patterns or high-risk activity
Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting
- Maintain the compliance evidence register and issue/remediation tracker for audits
- Coordinate with Customer Success and Operations, and report to the Head of Compliance and COO
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years in compliance operations, AML/financial crime, sanctions, or payments compliance
- Ideally with experience at a licensed money transmitter, PSP, fintech, bank, or regulated financial services environment
- Comfortable making calls on ambiguous cases: incomplete documents, unclear business activity, or elevated risk
Essential Skills
- Able to clearly separate a documentation gap from real risk from something needing escalation
- Strong written communication: case notes, escalation summaries, and partner responses that hold up under scrutiny
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing, mentoring, or QA’ing analysts is a strong plus
- CAMS or CFCS certification is a plus
- Arabic fluency is a strong plus, not a requirement
