The Agronomy Sales / Operations professional at North Star Coop in Cavalier, ND works directly with farmers to understand their cropping plans, recommend agronomic solutions and sell products including seed, fertilizer, crop protection inputs and related services. - Conduct sales calls and farm visits — building a productive, active customer relationship base across the cooperative’s territory and consistently delivering the agronomic expertise and personal service that distinguishes North Star Coop from larger, less personalized agronomy competitors.
- Communicate agronomic recommendations clearly and practically — explaining complex crop nutrition and protection concepts in straightforward, actionable terms that producers of all experience levels can understand and apply with confidence on their operations.
Field Sampling, Crop Assessment & Scouting
- Conduct field visits to assess crop conditions throughout the growing season — monitoring crop development, identifying emerging pest, disease, weed or nutrient deficiency issues and making timely, evidence-based agronomic recommendations that help producers protect yields and maximize field profitability.
- Gather soil samples and plant tissue samples from producer fields — following established sampling protocols, ensuring accurate sample labeling and timely submission, and interpreting laboratory results to develop practical, field-specific fertility and nutrition recommendations for each producer.
- Support growers through the full growing season — from pre-plant planning and planting-time decisions through in-crop management and post-harvest evaluation, providing continuous agronomic support that builds deep, trusted long-term relationships with North Star Coop’s member producers.
Operations, Inventory & Logistics
- Assist with ordering, inventory management and handling of agronomy products — maintaining accurate inventory records, placing timely orders to meet seasonal demand peaks and ensuring the cooperative has the right seed, fertilizer and crop protection products available when producers need them most.
- Coordinate deliveries and support application and logistics scheduling — working with transportation and application teams to ensure products and services are delivered to the right fields at the right times during the compressed windows of North Dakota’s planting, in-season and harvest periods.
- Collaborate with operations staff to maintain safe, efficient cooperative facilities — following safety procedures, handling agricultural inputs correctly and contributing to the organized, well-maintained facility environment that supports North Star Coop’s commitment to reliable, professional service.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Licensing
