Position Overview
This Head of East Africa role involves establishing a vision, strategy, and execution plan for launching and scaling sending and receiving markets in East Africa. You will own growth tactics including customer acquisition, retention, and pricing, build trust-based relationships with diaspora communities and commercial partners, monitor growth and financial metrics with a data-driven mindset, and hire, inspire, and develop a diverse, high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Execution
- Establish a vision, strategy, and execution plan for launching and scaling East Africa markets
- Think creatively about driving adoption, improving profitability, and increasing brand awareness
- Report to executive leadership with a data-driven, test-and-learn mindset
Partnerships & Growth
- Build trust-based relationships with diaspora communities and commercial partners in East Africa
- Own growth tactics: customer acquisition and retention, pricing, user research, and customer experience
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Customer Service, Finance, Tech, Legal, and Compliance
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead the team on the ground to execute against collaboratively aligned timelines
- Hire, inspire, develop, and retain top, diverse talent
- Own team development and coaching
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- 7 to 15 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment such as startups, operations, consulting, or finance
- Experience building, developing, managing, and leading teams multi-regionally
Essential Skills
- Advanced stakeholder management capability
- Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions
- An acute “own it” mindset balancing individual user experience with scalable growth optimization
- Ability to travel internationally periodically to meet banks, regulators, and partners
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of the East African regulatory landscape; financial regulation experience advantageous
- Keen interest in understanding the East African diaspora
- Preference for Nairobi, Dubai, or London base
