Position Overview
The Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) supports CVRL’s microbiology diagnostic services by performing microbiological culture, sensitivity testing, and pathogen identification. This role processes, labels, and manages specimens in line with laboratory procedures, maintains equipment and reagents, carries out routine quality control checks, and documents and reports results accurately to the Laboratory Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Microbiological Testing & Identification
- Perform microbiological culture, sensitivity testing, and pathogen identification
- Support CVRL’s microbiology diagnostic services with accurate, timely testing
Specimen & Equipment Management
- Process, label, and manage specimens in line with laboratory procedures
- Maintain equipment and reagents, and carry out routine quality control checks
Documentation & Reporting
- Document and report results accurately to the Laboratory Manager
- Maintain laboratory records in line with quality and safety standards
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- BSc in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology, or a related field
- Master’s degree is preferred
Experience Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a microbiology or diagnostic laboratory
- Preferred: experience with ISO 17025 standards
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory safety, biosafety protocols, and infection control
- Preferred: familiarity with laboratory information system
