Research and Development Assistant Jobs Dubai UAE 2026

A construction chemicals company in Dubai is hiring a Research and Development Assistant (listed as R&D Operator) to run laboratory trials, prepare samples and record accurate data. If you have worked in an admixture laboratory and want to grow in product development, this R&D job in Dubai could be the right next move.

About the Opportunity

Work Area: R&D laboratory

Focus: Formulation, concrete trials, product improvement and raw-material evaluation

Reports To: R&D Manager or Senior R&D Operator

Why Work in Dubai’s Construction Chemicals Sector?

Steady Demand: Large building and infrastructure projects need quality admixtures and chemical products

Tax-Free Salary: The UAE does not charge personal income tax on employment income

Career Growth: You build skills against a clear competence matrix

Position Overview

This role supports product development, product maintenance and raw-material evaluation. You prepare samples, formulations and lab batches, run the tests you are assigned, and record every result carefully. You also help with plant trials and gather data for project reviews, always under the direction of the R&D Manager or a senior operator.

The work is structured on purpose. You only carry out methods and equipment operations you are trained and authorized for, and you make routine adjustments only where the approved trial plan allows. Anything bigger goes to a senior colleague. That makes this a safe place to learn if you are early in your R&D career.

💡 Why This Role Matters: Every new or improved product starts with reliable lab data. Your accuracy helps the team make confident technical decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Trials & Testing

  • Prepare samples, formulations, lab batches and test specimens following approved plans and safety rules
  • Run assigned tests, characterization work and comparisons for development, reformulation and raw-material projects
  • Support lab and plant trials by preparing materials and collecting data

Records & Traceability

  • Record conditions, raw data, calculations and results accurately and on time
  • Keep raw materials, samples and retained project samples fully traceable
  • Help prepare reports and documents for project reviews, validation and R&D-to-QC transfer

Safety & Escalation

  • Report unexpected results, equipment issues, sample-identity concerns and safety risks right away
  • Keep equipment, reagents and workspaces in line with lab and document-control procedures
  • Build your knowledge of the product families and methods your manager assigns, possibly in organic or inorganic products

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Technical diploma in chemistry, industrial chemistry, laboratory technology or materials science (a degree is preferred but not mandatory)
  • 2 to 4 years in an admixture lab, covering formulation, concrete trials and product improvement
  • Cement grinding aids experience is a plus
  • Basic experience in lab testing, sample preparation and materials work
  • Accuracy, discipline and a safety and data-integrity mindset

What a Typical Day Could Look Like

You would likely start by reviewing the trial plan for the day and checking that your materials, reagents and equipment are ready. Then you prepare the batches or specimens and run the assigned tests, writing down conditions and observations as you go, not afterwards. If a result looks odd, you flag it to a senior colleague. Before leaving, you label and store samples properly and make sure your records are complete.

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Technical: sample preparation, basic formulation work and clean test execution
  • Documentation: accurate, contemporaneous data recording that is right the first time
  • Behavioral: curiosity, learning agility, teamwork and procedural discipline
  • Plus points: awareness of validation, industrialization and technical documentation requirements

Career Path After This Role

Success here is measured partly by your progress against the R&D competence matrix. As you master more methods and product families, you can move toward a Senior R&D Operator position and, over time, deeper technical or project roles in product development.

Who Should Apply?

  • Admixture Lab Technicians: Ready for a development-focused role
  • Chemistry Diploma Holders: With formulation and concrete trial experience
  • Lab Professionals: Looking to relocate to Dubai
