Position Overview

As a nurse specializing in wound care, you provide outpatient treatment for chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and diabetic foot syndrome, following current guidelines and expert standards. You plan each patient’s treatment, document and evaluate it, and stay in close contact with doctors and therapists. You also teach patients and their families about wound care, hygiene and prevention.

Key Responsibilities

Wound Care & Treatment Planning

  • Provide professional outpatient care for chronic wounds, such as pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and diabetic foot syndrome, following current guidelines and expert standards
  • Plan each patient’s treatment individually, with documentation and evaluation
  • Assess wounds and take photos to track how they heal

Quality, Hygiene & Billing

  • Ensure quality under the HKP guideline: correct indication, economical use of materials and billing that follows the rules
  • Follow hygiene regulations throughout the care process
  • Keep your expertise current through ongoing training

Advice & Collaboration

  • Advise and guide patients and relatives on wound care, hygiene and prevention
  • Coordinate closely with doctors, therapists and other partners for whole-person care

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Completed three-year training as a registered nurse (examinierte Pflegefachkraft)
  • Completed further training as Wundexperte ICW (or comparable), and willingness to train further as Fachtherapeut Wunde ICW, with costs covered and paid time off by the employer
  • Professional experience in outpatient care of chronic wounds
