Position Overview
The Seed Production Agronomist – FPR role is responsible for leading, designing, executing, and delivering practical and scientific agronomic research trials and projects focused on addressing critical seed production challenges and optimizing seed production reliability & performance in North America. This hands-on position combines field experimentation with data-driven analysis to develop robust production instructions, comprehensive production profiles, and detailed line characterizations that deliver to Regional and Global field production objectives.

Accountabilities
As Seed Production Agronomist at Syngenta Woodland, your accountabilities include:
Inbred Characterization & Production Evaluation
- Take lead in inbred characterization providing key seed producibility data for crops assigned in SSV (Syngenta Seeds Vegetables)
- Serve as key stakeholder in hybrid/parent production evaluation process
- Conduct analysis of seed production reliability for various crop species
- Evaluate seed production performance and identify optimization opportunities
Production Instructions & Profile Development
- Develop production instructions and profiles for assigned crop species
- Create comprehensive production guidelines supporting grower success
- Develop detailed line characterizations for vegetable seed production
- Ensure production profiles align with regional and global objectives
Experimental Design & Trial Execution
- Lead experimental design, trial creation, execution, evaluation, and results delivery
- Align trials with critical stakeholders and key business strategic priorities & targets
- Conduct hands-on field experimentation with data-driven analysis
- Implement emerging agricultural technologies in experimental protocols
Regional Project Management
- Manage regional improvement projects and action plans
- Coordinate trial data collection activities
- Conduct regular production field visits with regional field production staff
- Ensure FPR activities aligned to regional and business priorities
Cross-Functional Communication & Collaboration
- Develop and maintain communication with various functions within Syngenta vegetables business
- Collect & analyze data to prepare reports and presentations for delivery to internal and external customers
- Present information through formal and informal communication avenues
- Develop two-way communication with key stakeholders across Syngenta’s vegetable business functions
Technology & Innovation Monitoring
- Maintain awareness of competitive developments and key technologies in seed industry
- Monitor external technology institutions ensuring innovations are identified

Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this seed production agronomist position must possess:
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop/Plant Sciences, Plant Breeding, or related agricultural or biological discipline with relevant vegetable seed industry experience — REQUIRED
- Master’s degree in related field — PREFERRED
Professional Experience
- 5+ years of vegetable seed industry experience — REQUIRED
- Seed Production experience — PREFERRED
- Experience in working across business functions: R&D, Production & Supply, Marketing/Commercial
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Functional knowledge of vegetable seed production and seed supply chain across range of crop species
- Strong agronomic skills and knowledge of regional agricultural production systems
- Professional understanding of seed quality and factors that affect quality
