Unique Production Authority — Stop or Delay Production
The QA Team Leader – Factory Hygienist at KDD holds formal, company-sanctioned authority to stop or delay production due to hygiene risks without requiring additional management approval. This role also carries authority to approve all sanitation methods, chemical substances, and hygiene practices used across the KDD Farwaniya facility. This level of operational authority reflects the critical food safety responsibility this position carries within the KDD quality management structure.
Position Overview
The QA Team Leader – Factory Hygienist at KDD is one of the most technically demanding and strategically important food safety roles in Kuwait’s FMCG manufacturing sector. This role goes far beyond routine hygiene inspection — the Factory Hygienist owns the entire site hygiene and sanitation ecosystem, from designing and validating master sanitation schedules and SSOP programs, through managing environmental monitoring including ATP, microbiology, and pathogen testing, to driving hygienic engineering design reviews for new and existing production equipment. You are the site’s hygiene guardian — and your decisions have direct impact on the safety of every product that leaves the KDD facility.
This is a senior leadership role that requires deep, proven expertise in FSSC 22000 or BRCGS-compliant food safety systems, a minimum of 7 years in the food industry with preferably aseptic or fermented product manufacturing experience, and the personal authority and professional confidence to stop production when hygiene standards are not met. You will also manage and mentor the QA Systems Officer, lead hygiene training across the factory, liaise directly with external chemical vendors and pest control partners, and represent KDD in supplier audits and external audit functions. If food safety is not just your job but your professional calling, this QA Team Leader role at KDD Kuwait is a career-defining opportunity.
Why This Role Matters: As QA Team Leader – Factory Hygienist at KDD Farwaniya, you own the entire hygiene and sanitation system for one of Kuwait’s most recognized FMCG food brands, hold unique production stop authority that reflects the highest level of food safety responsibility, apply your FSSC 22000, BRCGS, HACCP, and TACCP expertise across a full-scale Kuwait food manufacturing operation, manage and mentor your own QA team, and directly protect the safety and integrity of products consumed by thousands of Kuwait and Gulf region consumers every single day.
Key Responsibilities
Hygiene & Sanitation Program Ownership
- Own and continuously improve all site hygiene and sanitation programs, SSOPs, zoning systems, and food safety segregation protocols across the KDD Farwaniya manufacturing facility
- Develop and manage the factory Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) — ensuring effective and efficient cleaning frequency is maintained in full compliance with FSSC 22000, BRCGS, and regulatory requirements
- Validate and verify cleaning effectiveness using ATP testing, microbiological sampling, and visual inspection — maintaining complete validation records and trending data for audit readiness
- Conduct hygiene risk assessments and serve as the hygiene owner and SME within the factory HACCP food safety team — driving HACCP PRP verification activities with direct link back to the food safety management system
Environmental & Pathogen Monitoring
- Own and manage the factory environmental monitoring program including pathogen monitoring (Listeria, Salmonella), allergen monitoring, and microbial trending analysis
- Establish and maintain allergen cleaning validation and allergen monitoring programs that meet Kuwait regulatory guidelines, FSSC 22000 requirements, and KDD internal food safety standards
- Ensure environmental monitoring programs are scheduled, completed by manufacturing and QC teams as planned, and that results are reviewed, trended, and acted upon without delay
- Manage and upgrade TACCP (Threat Assessment Critical Control Point) and VACCP (Vulnerability Assessment Critical Control Point) programs — coordinating with suppliers on an ongoing basis
Pest Management & External Service Providers
- Establish, manage, and maintain the factory Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program — acting as the primary KDD contact with the third-party pest control partner and coordinating QA officer activities on IPM execution
- Review and maintain the external service providers monitoring program — liaising with other departments on compliance, performance, and any issues requiring escalation or corrective action
- Act as the factory liaison for chemical substance vendors — performing risk assessments of chemical products used in sanitation, coordinating vendor visits, and approving all sanitation chemicals and methods used on site
Hygienic Engineering & Facility Design
- Actively participate in hygienic design and zoning review processes for both existing and new process equipment as well as facility structure — providing expert leadership and direction on hygienic engineering best practices
- Engage in early management of capital review processes and design reviews to ensure new equipment and facility developments meet FSSC 22000, BRCGS, and KDD hygienic design requirements from the outset
- Administer and manage factory sanitation, GMP, and hygiene inspection programs — including formalized corrective action processes, CAPAs, and communication of findings across relevant departments

- Ensure factory audit readiness at all times — leading preparation for FSSC 22000, BRCGS, regulatory, customer, and third-party audits and ensuring timely closure of all hygiene and sanitation CAPAs
- Participate in supplier audit programs — conducting comprehensive supplier audits with detailed reports and follow-up actions to ensure supply chain hygiene and food safety alignment
- Identify, participate in, and lead defect reduction and continuous improvement projects — performing data analysis and reporting to drive measurable improvements in hygiene and food safety performance
