Position Overview
The Analytical Chemist role at Element in Dubai focuses on the inorganic section of the laboratory, analysing water and soil samples using a combination of traditional wet chemistry techniques and modern analytical instrumentation. You will work independently within a structured ISO 17025 quality management system, assist in preparing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conduct QA/QC reviews, set up new analytical methods, and ensure all quality records are accurately maintained. Key Responsibilities
Inorganic Laboratory Analysis
- Conduct inorganic analysis of water and soil samples using traditional wet chemistry techniques and modern laboratory instrumentation
- Operate analytical instruments independently and unsupervised within the inorganic laboratory section in Dubai
- Set up new analytical methods as required to expand the laboratory’s testing capabilities and service offerings
- Ensure all testing activities are performed with the highest level of accuracy, precision, and scientific integrity
SOP Development & QA/QC Management
- Assist in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inorganic analytical testing methods
- Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews, updates, planning, and implementation in accordance with ISO 17025 protocols
- Assist in modifying existing analytical SOPs as and when required to reflect updated methods or regulatory changes
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate quality records in the laboratory as per ISO 17025 requirements
ISO 17025 Quality System Compliance
- Adhere strictly to the comprehensive ISO 17025 quality management system in all laboratory activities
- Efficiently utilise Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data recording, tracking, and reporting
- Ensure all laboratory operations meet accreditation standards and support successful external audits and assessments
- Maintain safe operation of all testing equipment in compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Background
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field is required
- Additional qualifications or certifications in analytical chemistry, environmental science, or laboratory management are a strong advantage
Experience Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in an analytical chemistry role or a similar laboratory position
- Minimum 1 year of practical experience working in a laboratory with ISO 17025 accreditation is required
- Proven knowledge and experience in safe operation of analytical testing equipment and instruments
- Experience working in an independent, chemistry, or consultant laboratory environment is preferred
