Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
Daily Plant Care & Horticultural Maintenance
- Visit various customer sites each day and provide expert, hands-on care for interior and exterior plants using trained horticultural techniques — ensuring every plant looks healthy, vibrant, and professionally maintained
- Exercise trained watering techniques to apply and maintain appropriate amounts of water per plant species, container size, and ambient lighting conditions — gauging soil moisture accurately using a soil probe at each visit
- Perform grooming, rotating, pruning, trimming, and debris removal from planters — keeping all plants and their display containers clean, dust-free, and in peak visual condition at all customer locations
- Apply fertilizer as needed based on plant requirements and growth conditions — using basic math skills to correctly follow mixing instructions on product labels and ensure appropriate nutrient delivery
Plant Health, Disease Prevention & Pest Management
- Keep all plants free from diseases and insects through regular monitoring, early detection, and timely treatment — applying trained pest prevention techniques to protect plant health across all customer sites
- Maintain the appearance of top dressing and other ornamental display elements — ensuring every planter and display looks polished, professional, and reflective of the Ambius standard of excellence
- Prevent damage to surrounding floors, walls, carpet, furniture, and interior surfaces from water and moisture during all plant care activities — exercising careful, professional technique at every customer location
Plantscape Installations & Holiday Decoration Projects
- Assist on a variety of interior and exterior plantscape installations — including commercial container gardens, wall-mounted plant systems, lobby installations, and full commercial plantscape projects across Cary, NC and surrounding areas
- Participate in holiday decoration installations, working with a team to decorate the interiors and exteriors of commercial buildings with seasonal displays, and assisting with the timely removal of decorations at the end of each season
- Maintain scenting equipment and air purification systems as necessary at customer locations — ensuring these systems are functioning correctly and contributing to the quality of indoor environments
Customer Service, Business Growth & Communication
- Recognize and communicate additional Ambius product and service needs observed during customer site visits — actively supporting business development by identifying opportunities to enhance the plantscape offering for existing clients
- Deliver consistently excellent customer-facing service at every site visit — building trust, reliability, and positive relationships with clients who depend on Ambius for the ongoing care of their commercial environments
- Regularly drive a company service van or truck safely across urban and rural settings in the Cary, NC area — maintaining punctuality, safe driving standards, and a professional appearance at all times
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED is required — relevant plant care experience, horticultural training, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience will also be considered
- Prior experience caring for plants in a professional, commercial, or personal capacity is preferred — a genuine love of plants and a natural instinct for their care will set the strongest candidates apart
- Customer-facing experience is preferred — the ability to represent Rentokil Ambius professionally and communicate effectively with business clients at every site visit is a meaningful advantage
Licensing & Physical Requirements
- A valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence is mandatory — this role requires regular driving of a company service vehicle across customer sites throughout the Cary, NC region
- Must be able to safely climb and work on ladders at various heights — as some plantscape installations and maintenance tasks require working at elevated positions within commercial buildings
- Comfortable and experienced in using pruners, scissors, and other sharp horticultural tools safely and accurately as part of routine plant grooming and maintenance activities
- Any licenses or certifications required by federal, state, or local regulations will be covered by Rentokil Ambius — ensuring all Plant Care Specialists are fully compliant and properly certified
Skills & Schedule Requirements
- Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills — essential for following product label instructions accurately, communicating with customers professionally, and completing service documentation
- Basic math skills for measuring, mixing, and applying plant care products correctly according to label ratios and application guidelines at customer sites
