Position Overview

The Production Agronomist at Corteva Agriscience Jackson, MN is a field-based, team leadership role at the heart of the company’s seed production operations. You will oversee acreage planning, grower relations, field inspection programs, nutrient and herbicide recommendations, integrated pest management (IPM), harvest processes, and safety program management — while developing your leadership skills by managing and training a team of field inspectors.  Key Responsibilities

Acreage Planning & Grower Relations

  • Oversee comprehensive acreage planning, production strategy, logistics coordination, and resource allocation for all seed field activities across Corteva’s Jackson, MN production footprint
  • Manage all aspects of grower relations — including contract management, conflict resolution, field information sharing, and maintaining strong, productive relationships with contracted seed growers across the region
  • Coach contracted seed growers on agronomic improvement opportunities — providing expert recommendations on crop management practices that directly enhance seed yields and quality for Corteva’s Jackson production program

Agronomic Technical Expertise & Field Management

  • Serve as a technical agronomy expert across a broad range of field activities including nutrient management, herbicide recommendations, integrated pest management (IPM), field inspections, pollination oversight, and harvest process management
  • Keep current on the latest agronomic practices, government agricultural programs, and environmental regulations related to all phases of seed production — applying this knowledge to continuously improve Corteva’s Jackson production outcomes
  • Work directly with government certifying agencies to ensure all seed production standards, certification requirements, and regulatory compliance obligations are consistently met across the production program
  • Evaluate and analyze the local competitive seed environment to ensure Corteva’s Jackson operation maintains its agronomic leadership and competitive production advantage in Southwest Minnesota

Team Leadership & Field Inspector Management

  • Train, lead, and manage a dedicated team of field inspectors at the Jackson facility — setting clear performance expectations, providing hands-on coaching, and building a high-functioning, engaged field team aligned with Corteva’s production goals
  • Establish and support individual and team performance goals that are realistic, attainable, and directly aligned with Corteva’s overall seed production business strategy and quality objectives for the Jackson location
  • Balance workloads, motivate team members, and foster a collaborative, safety-first work culture that encourages innovation, intelligent risk-taking, and creative problem-solving across the field inspection team

Safety, Planning & Strategic Operations

  • Oversee the plant safety program at the Jackson location — promoting, implementing, and enforcing safety, health, and environmentally sound practices through active management of all assigned safety programs and protocols
  • Participate actively in strategic planning, budgetary reviews, quality assurance, safety programs, and workforce management decisions for employees and contractors across the Jackson seed production operation
  • Work closely with Corteva’s local sales teams to align production planning with market demand, customer requirements, and commercial sales forecasts for the Jackson facility’s seed output
  • Ensure accurate data collection, entry, and reporting for all production metrics — meeting targeted yield parameters and other planning KPIs as directed by the company’s Jackson production management team

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agribusiness, Crop Science, Plant Science, Agriculture, or a closely related agricultural discipline is required for this Production Agronomist position

Experience & Core Skills

  • At least one year of hands-on experience in agronomy, field science, agribusiness, seed production, or a directly related agricultural field — with general seed production knowledge and familiarity with sound agricultural practices
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and sustaining high-functioning, engaged work teams in agricultural, production, or field operations environments
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills — with the proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced agricultural production environment and quickly adapt to seasonal changes and unexpected field challenges
  • Proven computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint — along with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new agricultural software systems and digital agronomy platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills essential for grower relations, team leadership, regulatory agency coordination, and internal reporting
  • Valid US driver’s license in good standing — with willingness and ability to work extended hours during peak agronomic seasons as required by the biological nature of seed production
