Position Overview
As Senior Pattern Master at Abadia, you own the journey from design sketch to production-ready pattern. You translate creative vision into precise, wearable garments, mentor junior pattern makers, and safeguard fit and quality across every collection. This role blends hands-on manual pattern cutting with technical grading, fitting sessions, and close collaboration with design and production teams.

Key Responsibilities
Pattern Development & Manual Cutting
- Develop first patterns from design sketches and tech packs, by hand
- Cut premium fabrics with precision, maximising every metre and minimising wastage
- Create and grade production patterns across the full size range
Fit Sessions & Quality Assurance
- Attend fittings with the design team and drive corrections through to final approval
- Solve construction and fit challenges while protecting brand quality standards
- Safeguard fit and quality consistency across every collection
Block & Fit Library Management
- Build and maintain a consistent block and fit library for the brand
- Ensure long-term consistency in sizing, grading, and construction standards
Production & Supplier Collaboration
- Partner with production and suppliers to ensure patterns are correct and manufacturable
- Support the studio in translating design intent into production-ready outcomes
Mentorship & Team Leadership
- Mentor and review the work of junior pattern makers
- Uphold high standards of workmanship across the pattern-making team
- Contribute ideas and refine processes within a collaborative studio environment
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- 7+ years in pattern making, including senior or lead experience
- Experience mentoring or leading a small team
Essential Skills
- Mastery of manual pattern cutting and grading
- Deep understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabric behaviour
- Strong eye for detail and a high bar for finish quality
