The Software Engineer, micro Platforms role at micro1 is a high-ownership, fullstack engineering position built for engineers who want to design, own, and evolve core internal platform systems from the ground up. Working 100% remotely with PST timezone overlap of 6–8 hours, you will build scalable backend services and APIs, develop performant frontend interfaces, optimize relational database schemas and queries, and collaborate closely with product, operations, and design teams — all while helping shape the platform reliability, observability, and developer experience that power micro1’s AI-driven operations at scale.

Key Responsibilities
Fullstack System Design & Backend Development
- Contribute to the design and development of end-to-end fullstack systems powering critical internal workflows and platform capabilities
- Build clean, scalable backend services and APIs with clear contracts and defined ownership across all services
- Participate actively in data modelling and database performance optimisation including schema design, query tuning, and long-term maintainability
Frontend Development & Internal Tools
- Develop high-quality, performant frontend interfaces used by internal teams and key stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and design teams to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable, production-ready systems
- Improve platform reliability, observability, and overall developer experience across all internal tooling
Engineering Quality & Production Resilience
- Uphold engineering quality standards through thorough code reviews, comprehensive testing, and a culture of continuous improvement
- Help debug and resolve production issues while actively improving operational resilience and platform stability
- Make pragmatic, evidence-based tradeoffs between speed, scalability, and maintainability in a fast-moving engineering environment
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Requirements
- Experience building or contributing to production fullstack systems — professional experience, internships, or strong personal projects all considered
- Strong TypeScript fundamentals across frontend and/or backend development
- Familiarity with backend development using Node.js — NestJS experience is a meaningful plus
- Experience building user interfaces with React or comparable modern frontend frameworks
- Solid understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and core data modelling principles
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and distributed system communication patterns
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure
