Position Overview
This Accounting Associate role in Dubai is a full-time, on-site position within the finance function of a growing company — supporting the day-to-day accounting operations that keep the business financially accurate, compliant, and audit-ready. You will prepare and post journal entries, assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, process invoices and payments using accounting software, and actively support month-end and year-end closing activities. The role also involves collaborating with finance and operations teams, assisting with internal and external audits, and contributing to the maintenance of internal financial controls. Candidates with healthcare or medical equipment sector experience are welcomed and viewed positively, though this background is not a mandatory requirement for appointment.
Why This Role Matters: As Accounting Associate in Dubai — with strong accounting principles knowledge, journal entry and financial statement experience, and proficiency in accounting software — you will be the financial accuracy engine that keeps a growing Dubai company’s books complete, reconciled, and audit-ready, develop hands-on expertise across the full daily accounting cycle in a real operational business environment, build a solid foundation for a long-term finance career in the UAE — one of the world’s most commercially dynamic and professionally rewarding financial environments — and contribute directly to the financial compliance and reporting integrity that management, investors, and auditors depend on.
Key Responsibilities
Journal Entries & General Ledger Maintenance
- Prepare, review, and post daily journal entries across all relevant accounting modules — including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, accruals, prepayments, asset depreciation, and intercompany transactions — ensuring every entry is correctly coded, accurately described, and posted to the correct period
- Maintain the general ledger with consistent accuracy — reviewing ledger accounts regularly, identifying and investigating anomalies or unexpected balances, and making correcting entries where required to ensure the ledger reflects the true financial position of the business at all times
- Perform regular account reconciliations — reconciling bank statements, intercompany balances, supplier control accounts, customer control accounts, and balance sheet sub-ledgers against the general ledger — documenting all reconciling items and resolving outstanding differences in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, accurate, and well-organised chart of accounts — ensuring consistent account coding across all transactions, identifying mispostings promptly, and working with finance management to maintain accounting structure integrity as the business grows and evolves
Financial Statements Preparation & Review
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements — including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement — ensuring all financial data is accurately captured, correctly presented, and reconciled to supporting schedules before review by the Finance Manager
- Support the review and analysis of financial statement line items — identifying unusual movements, investigating variances, and providing clear explanations that help management understand the financial performance and position of the business
- Prepare supporting schedules and working papers for financial statement line items — including fixed asset schedules, prepayment amortisation schedules, accrual listings, and provision calculations — ensuring all financial statement amounts are fully documented and audit-supportable
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders — ensuring reports are accurate, clearly presented, and submitted within required reporting deadlines
Accounts Payable, Receivable & Payment Processing
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner — verifying invoice details against purchase orders and delivery documentation, coding invoices correctly to the general ledger, obtaining necessary approvals, and posting to the accounts payable ledger
- Process customer receipts and reconcile accounts receivable balances — matching incoming payments to outstanding invoices, identifying and investigating unallocated receipts, and maintaining accurate customer account records
- Manage payment processing activities — preparing payment runs for approved supplier invoices, coordinating with treasury for payment authorisation, and ensuring all payments are made within agreed terms and correctly recorded in the accounting system
- Maintain accurate records of all invoices, receipts, and payment documentation — ensuring a complete, well-organised digital and physical filing system that supports audit requirements and enables fast retrieval of any financial transaction record when needed
Month-End & Year-End Closing Activities
- Support month-end closing procedures — ensuring all journal entries are posted, reconciliations are completed, accruals are correctly calculated and recorded, and the trial balance is clean and ready for financial statement preparation within the agreed closing timeline
- Assist with year-end closing activities — preparing year-end adjusting entries, supporting the external audit process by providing requested documentation and reconciliations, and ensuring all annual financial records are complete, accurately filed, and accessible for regulatory review
- Support internal and external audits — retrieving documentation, preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor queries, and contributing to a smooth, efficient audit process that reflects well on the company’s financial controls and record-keeping standards
- Help ensure compliance with internal financial controls and relevant financial regulations applicable in the UAE — contributing to a finance function that consistently upholds the highest standards of financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational accuracy
Accounting Software, Digital Tools & Team Collaboration
- Use accounting software and digital financial tools proficiently for all daily accounting activities — including transaction processing, invoice management, payment tracking, reconciliation, and financial reporting — leveraging system functionality to maximise accuracy and efficiency
- Collaborate effectively with finance colleagues and operations team members — communicating professionally on accounting requirements, resolving coding and documentation queries, and ensuring that the finance function integrates smoothly with business operations
- Maintain strong time management and prioritisation across multiple concurrent accounting responsibilities — delivering accurate, timely outputs across journal entries, reconciliations, payment processing, and reporting obligations without compromising quality or missing critical deadlines

- Previous experience in medical equipment, healthcare, or a similarly regulated business environment is an advantage — though candidates from other industry backgrounds with strong core accounting skills are equally encouraged to apply
Personal Qualities
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounting tasks simultaneously — maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and sustaining high quality across all deliverables in a fast-paced finance team environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills — the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, suppliers, auditors, and management, and to present financial information clearly and accurately
- Collaborative, team-oriented working style — comfortable working closely with both finance colleagues and non-finance operations staff in a cooperative, on-site office environment
