Position Overview
This Sustainability Specialist role defines and leads project-specific sustainability strategies, conducts sustainability workshops and design reviews, and develops net-zero carbon roadmaps. You will lead certification programs across LEED, Estidama, BREEAM, WELL, Fitwel, and GSAS, perform whole-building energy modelling and daylighting analysis, prepare environmental impact assessments, and contribute to business development through technical proposals and client interviews — all while mentoring junior sustainability team members.

Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Strategy & Advisory
- Define and lead project-specific sustainability strategies tailored to client ambitions and budget
- Conduct sustainability workshops, charrettes, and design reviews with multidisciplinary teams
- Advise on passive design measures including orientation, massing, façade performance, and daylighting
- Develop net-zero carbon roadmaps and conduct embodied carbon assessments (One Click LCA, EC3)
Green Building Certifications
- Lead and manage certification programs across LEED, Estidama PRS, BREEAM, WELL, Fitwel, and GSAS
- Prepare credit documentation, energy calculations, and simulation reports for certification bodies
- Track credit status across active projects, identifying risks and solutions to maintain ratings
- Liaise with local authority sustainability requirements across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and KSA
Energy Modelling & Technical Analysis
- Perform whole-building energy modelling using IES VE, DesignBuilder, or eQUEST
- Conduct parametric studies on glazing ratios, HVAC systems, and building envelope performance
- Carry out daylighting and glare analyses using DIVA-for-Rhino, IES VE, or Radiance
- Assess thermal comfort using PMV/PPD analysis and outdoor thermal comfort models (UTCI, PET)
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP)
- Advise on indoor environmental quality strategies, waste management, and biophilic design
- Support climate risk and resilience assessments for infrastructure and masterplan projects
Practice & Business Development
- Contribute to business development through technical sustainability proposals and client interviews
- Represent the firm at sustainability forums and green building council events
- Develop internal sustainability design guidelines and credit compliance checklists
- Mentor junior sustainability team members across building services disciplines
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Architecture with a sustainability focus
- Master’s degree in Sustainable Design or Environmental Engineering is advantageous
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in sustainability consultancy, with at least 4 years in the Middle East
- Track record of achieving LEED Gold/Platinum, Estidama 2 Pearl+, and/or BREEAM Very Good/Excellent
- LEED AP BD+C (USGBC) required; WELL AP, BREEAM AP, or Estidama Accredited Professional highly desirable
- Chartered status (CEng, CEnv, or equivalent) preferred
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in IES VE; familiarity with DesignBuilder, eQUEST, EnergyPlus
- Daylighting and thermal comfort tools: DIVA-for-Rhino, Climate Consultant, Ladybug Tools
