Position Overview
This Lab Technician role involves preparing laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and materials for science practical lessons, setting up and dismantling experiments before and after classes, ensuring laboratories are clean, organized, and safe for staff and students, maintaining and calibrating equipment, managing laboratory inventory, and supporting science teachers with technical assistance during lab sessions and examinations.

Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Preparation & Setup
- Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and materials for science practical lessons
- Set up and dismantle laboratory experiments before and after classes
- Prepare chemical solutions and specimens as required for practical activities
Equipment Maintenance & Inventory
- Maintain, calibrate, and perform basic repairs on laboratory equipment
- Monitor and manage laboratory inventory, including ordering and storing supplies
- Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance, chemical usage, and inventory
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure laboratories are clean, organized, and safe for staff and students
- Label, store, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials according to safety regulations
- Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure compliance with school health and safety policies
- Ensure emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and first aid kits are regularly inspected
Teaching & Examination Support
- Support science teachers during laboratory sessions and provide technical assistance
- Support all school activities and examination activities as required
- Conduct lab practical examinations as per school protocols
- Assist in developing and updating laboratory procedures and safety documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in a school, college, university, or research laboratory is preferred
