Key Responsibilities
Water Quality Monitoring & Sample Analysis
- Collect water samples systematically from all critical points in the treatment cycle — from seawater intake through pre-treatment, RO membranes, and product water storage — to ensure continuous water quality compliance against defined specifications
- Conduct comprehensive chemical and physical analysis of collected water samples using laboratory instruments — measuring parameters including pH, turbidity, conductivity, TDS, hardness, chlorine, SDI, and other relevant water quality indicators
- Interpret analysis results against quality benchmarks, identify deviations promptly, and take or recommend immediate corrective actions to restore compliance across all treatment stages
Chemical Dosing Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor chemical dosing systems throughout the water treatment process — including antiscalants, coagulants, biocides, pH adjustment chemicals, and disinfection agents — ensuring dosage rates are accurate and optimized for plant performance
- Adjust chemical dosing rates proactively based on water quality data, seasonal seawater variations, and plant operational requirements to maximize RO membrane performance and water recovery rates
- Identify opportunities to optimize chemical usage — reducing costs and minimizing environmental impact without compromising product water quality or plant equipment integrity
Chemical Inventory & Stock Management
- Manage chemical inventory levels across all RO plant chemical storage areas — maintaining accurate stock records, tracking consumption rates, and ensuring adequate chemical availability to prevent operational disruptions
- Prepare annual chemical requirements forecasts based on historical consumption data, production targets, and planned maintenance activities
- Ensure all chemical storage, handling, and disposal activities comply fully with HSE regulations, safety data sheet (SDS) requirements, and UAE environmental standards
Reporting, Documentation & Process Improvement
- Prepare accurate, detailed chemical analysis reports, operational quality records, and technical documentation for management review and regulatory compliance purposes
- Monitor overall RO plant operational performance — analyzing trends in water quality, chemical consumption, and equipment performance to identify and recommend process improvements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the water treatment plant — contributing technical expertise to upgrade chemical dosing programs, improve analytical methods, and enhance overall plant efficiency
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date technical documentation including operational logs, calibration records, and chemical consumption reports
Team Supervision, Training & HSE Compliance
- Supervise and guide team members in day-to-day water sampling, chemical analysis, and plant monitoring activities — ensuring all tasks are performed accurately, safely, and in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Support technical training and development of junior team members — building water chemistry competency and laboratory best practice skills across the team
- Ensure strict compliance with all operational procedures, quality standards, and HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) requirements across all water treatment and laboratory activities
